I've liked all the Firestones that I've tried so far. I've really been digging ambers lately. Bear Republic Red Rocket tastes great

I have been checking out this place whenever possible - Freewheel Brewing Co in Redwood City, right off 101 and Marsh Rd. They do English style ales, and usually have food.

Anyone go to the brew fest at Fort Mason this past Saturday? It was pretty fun. I mostly hung around Freewheel and drank bitter after bitter after bitter after stout after bitter after bitter after stout, etc. I love their beer.

Some other good ones there though some oddly missing. Deschutes was there pouring nothing you couldn't find at Safeway. Ballast Point had a "habanero" version of the Sculpin which was a bummer because Sculpin is SOFA KING good. I wonder if I will ever understand why people would want a spicy beer (like Devil's Canyon's version). Ninkasi had a preventative line so I did not try theirs. My other favorite besides Freewheel was Social Kitchen & Brewery. I had heard of them, but never sampled their wares. I tried their Session Ale was which really tasty and light, the kind you want to have twelve of.

Also tried Alaskan's Amber and APA which I really liked. No real hoppy IPA's that I found or tasted, aside from Sculpin but because of the Habanero I only had a couple sips and couple barely taste the beer - just a hint of hops behind the fire. I am sure Ninkasi had something on tap but did not get there.

For those wanting to try Freewheel, while it is some of my favorite beer I have tasted - keep in mind if you are in that "hopped to hell = good" stage of the Male Beer Appreciate Process, you may not appreciate their beers. If you do end up there, make sure you try the Stout - it is so good, and a few people I know have arrived there saying they do not like dark beers, and left a huge fan of their stout.

I really like Social Kitchen and Breweries beers too. I didnt know there was a habanero sculpin. Sculpin is one of my favorite IPA's but habanero flavoring sounds weird

Fun tip for anyone that drives with a car seat: you can usually use any standard 4-point car-seat harness to safely secure a standard 2L growler. Clip the lower clips in, and use the chest clip to locate the stem of the bottle in place. In fact, there is a Recaro car seat in my DD, and there is almost always a growler strapped in... Just in case.

Heading to Magnolia to fill it up right now..

Drank my growler of Totality imperial stout from Fifty Fifty the other day with a friend. It was solid.
