The Official Bay Area Beer Thread
So happy I found this thread, I'm a huge beer fan! If anyone is on Untappd, friend me at ericsinsideout. It's hard to keep track of all my favorites being (as far as I've remembered to check into) 670+ different beers, but I'll take a stab at it.
top 5 bay area breweries:
-EJ Phairs
-Lagunitas
-Jupiter/Drakes
-21st Amendment
-Anchor Brewing
and my top 5 beers are:
-Lagunitas IPA
-EJ Phairs Shorty's Revenge
-Russian River Pliny the Elder (still need to get my hands on Younger)
-Stone Arrogant Bastard
-Drake's Denogginizer
Also, anyone else going to Breast-Fest Beer festival @ Fort Mason in July?

Today’s my Birthday. Here is my Birthday Line-up. 3 of the finest IPA’s to ever be bottled.
Hoptologist DIPA by Knee Deep Brewing Co.
Apex Special IPA by Bear Republic
Pliny the Elder by Russian River Brewing Co.
Today’s going to be a good day. Yes it is.
Update: Double IPA from Ballast Point called Dorado (10.00%) is no joke. Tastes hoppy, but has an 'eh' aftertaste. Sculpin is much better.
plays well with others

Tried the Belgo Hoptologist? delicious.
Great thread! I got into micro brews a couple of month's back and am hooked. There was a one week period last month when I tried at least a dozen IPAs during a business trip to Portland. This week I've had Hop Dragon Double IPA by Tahoe Mountain Brewing Company , Stone Enjoy by 04.20.14 IPA by Stone Brewing Company, and Speakeasy Double Daddy IPA by Speakeasy Ales and Lagers.

My absolute favorite is lost coast tangerine for a lighter summer beer. And for that knock the socks off.....RUINATION from stone. Their brewery in sd is cray cray.
There is still nothing else like Magnolia. Tomorrow is the last day to experience the current lunch menu, though the new one should be pretty cool too. I am enjoying some Proving Ground IPA at home right now. Not sure there is an IPA that I could say I like better. Maybe having it at the brewpub, on cask.
My dream day includes sitting there with no hurry at all, having several pints of Blue Bell Bitter on cask.
It will be neat to check out the new unit in the Dogpatch.

If any of you guys are beer lovers and are willing to drive my beer spot in Salinas does bottle shares pretty regularly. Bring something good or buy something there you've never had. I usually buy something. I bought 2 bottles last time. One for me and one for my brother. $40. Well worth it.
Telling you right now... if you EVER see Chocolate Rain or Mash & Grind by the Bruery... buy them. Chocolate Rain is in the top 2 beers I've ever had in my life right next to Utopias.

That list would be impressive for a one month period! Well done. I'm dying to taste some Pliny. Drove to 4 different stores this morning with zero success.

I called all down the east bay and they run out the day they get it. Whole foods told me they run out within the first hour at 12pm on Wednesday, like how can I get there when I'm working?
Kinda crazy the amount of following Pliney the Elder has, someone halp me somewhere!
