The Official Bay Area Beer Thread
the best local IPAs I've had lately:
• Sante Adairius 831
• RR HopTime Harvest Ale
• RR Hopfather
For my money, Mr. Cilurzo makes the best ales in the area. I'm also excited to see how Sante will do in the next couple of years, considering they're getting a TON of attention - even nationally.
Anyone else into stouts and sours, or are you all just IPA fans?

Sours, well, I will definitely try them and I have a friend who is really into them and brews a few. I really do enjoy the odd Berliner-Weisse but, in general would have maybe one sour brown and then move to something more like an ale.
Another I have really enjoyed is Almanac's Flowering Gose. But, I had one one time that was a little like beer with two shots of cottage-cheese. Probably the bottom of the keg.
I still need to check out RRBC. I have had a good lot of their beers, but mostly up in Seattle when I was there for work. There is an amazing restaurant near our office up there that used to have at least 5x RRBC beers on tap, before the whole Washington thing.
Lastly, Sierra's Celebration is out now. I really enjoy that stuff and need to find it on tap ASAP. If someone sees it somewhere, please let me know. Until then I have some bottles chilling. That is one IPA that I definitely make a point to obtain. So far my favorite year was 2009's. It is also the only Winter Ale that anyone makes that I really enjoy, I think.
I would best be described as a fan of English ales. Give me a cask bitter any day of the week. Though, I was really enjoying Freewheel's Stout and IPA last night. They modified the IPA recipe and now in my opinion, it is perfectly balanced and as a true English IPA should be. SO GOOD. The Stout is always tasty. How were those two stouts Buzzword? I've never tried those. Imperial Stouts are my favorite style. I had a 2011 Abyss last week that was pretty damn good. I might have to open my Speedway Stout tonight.

No I did not make it to this one.
Been on some IPA craze. Some that people should try if the bitterness is startin' to taste delicious...
So far I'd rank it like this
1) Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA
2) Ulinta Hop Notch
3) Heretic Evil Cousin
4) Port Brewing Port Wipeout
5) Ninkasi Tricerahops
6) Drake's IPA
The rest I've tried so far are alright, not too impressed.
-Lagunitas Hopstoopid
-Coronado Islander IPA
-Sierra Nevada Torpedo
-Drake's Denogginizor is too hopped IMO.

All the beers you don't like I'd rank in your top 6, along with Black Diamond Rampage and Heretic evil cousin. Both insanely hopped big DIPA's. Denoginizer is soo damn good and soo is Hop stoopid (one of my go to beers for price and availability, and deliciousness) gotta drink IPA's fresh though guys...hop aroma wears off very fast.

Yeah I grabbed a couple bottles last year. Its good stuff. They made a black label Hopocalypse which is a triple IPA. The normal white label is a double IPA. Black label is pretty hard to find though. It might be a brewery only release.

I should try this one next.
