haaa... I guess we're on the same wavelength, Ray. By "right after Halloween," I mean the first week of November. But you got your crystal ball dialed in to one specific day. Sheesh. Time for me to upgrade my kit, eh?

Also, by "significant storm," I mean maybe only 3-4 inches of fresh. I doubt if any of us will be getting our slide til close to Turkey Day. Most of that will be on machine-made snow & on only a handful of runs at that.

So as I'm popping down that last handful of candy corn, I'll be dusting off my snow-dancin' boots. As the season approaches, I hope all the other powderhounds & shredheads out there will be doing some of this or this , too. All I ask is that we've got a decent base & that the storm door will be wide open by the 2nd wknd in Dec. My first trip up to our mountain playgrounds is tentatively set for that wknd. Mother Nature, don't let us down.

Also, Warren Miller's Children of Winter is coming to a theatre near you!

http://www.skinet.com/warrenmiller/

Find a show in your area in the "Tour Dates/Ticketing" section.

One of the goodies...
FREE LIFT TICKET TO HEAVENLY
Everyone attending CHILDREN OF WINTER will receive a voucher to Heavenly good for one (1) free lift ticket valid from opening day of the 2008/2009 season through 1.16.09. Not valid 11.28.08 through 11.30.08 and 12.20.08 through 1.4.09. Not valid with any other discounted offer. No cash value. No refunds.
I caught a show last year & tickets were $18 (iirc). So I saw a cool flick, then a couple months later I shredded up Heavenly w/o having to pay for a $78 lift ticket. Not bad, eh?

Just trying to pass along some of my secrets to getting yo' slide on w/o breakin' the bank.

Thumbs up Rain Inbound Later This Week!!!

woohoo. High mountain (elev. 8000'+) snow possible on Saturday!

Fall officially began last week w/ abnormally high temps.

Hopefully w/in a couple weeks, we'll see more fall-like weather, eh? Over the last few weeks, I purposely have not washed my wagon in anticipation of our typical October occasional chances of showers. Don't let me down, Mother Nature.

Can't wait til we can actually say (and mean) "Woohoo!!!" instead of just "woohoo."

10 weeks, I say. We can get serious in 10 weeks.

Since I<3subie's "inbound snow" thread inexplicably got bounced fr: da BAIC, I'll bump this bad boy again!

We can get serious in 10 weeks. I say again, we can get serious in 10 weeks. True, there may be a smidgen of sliding to be had in 6 or 7. But I'm calling for the season's first real "YEEEEEEEE-HAWWW"s in 10.

On a side note: I can see why some of the other threads got moved, but not the Halloween snowfall-related one. It's rather obvious the thread is targeted toward the powder-junkies of our area. OK, yapper firmly re-sealed.

i'm hoping there is some snow just for this weekend, then some solid rain in the high country...that way the ground is moist and it'll freeze. That keeps the snow around a hell of a lot longer in the spring.

WOOOO HOOOO!! It has been quite sometime that i have been snowboarding because of too many situtions--snowboard getting stolen, car accident, and other issues--its finally all good. I just ordered my DOUBLE WHAMMY SEASON PASS! I have all brand new gear that is ready to be shredded on!! Ride decade 162w, k2 bindings, and new burton boots!! I am just about to order some new winter wheels and tires and i am set. Now its time to play the waiting game with the snow. Happy season all!

That's the spirit, folks! Just remember, the best snowdances are those performed w/ a hawtie of the opposite sex. Oh... and you both have to be wearing nothing but your snowboard (or ski) boots.

FYI: the Farmer's Almanac got us having precip almost every other week for the next several weeks. We should get a healthy dose from mid-Nov thru Turkey Day! Let's not make a liar outta the ol' country boy, and do them dances!
