just came back from a 1.5 day trip at northstar. saturday was really nice. groomers everywhere with the backside pretty much empty. the front wasnt too bad until 10-1pm then the lines were pretty long. I literally boarded every single black diamond run Northstar had to offer. I was sore as heck the next morning, but I gotta milk the season pass for all its worth

Sunday was another good half day. I say half day because I was still sore. Also, the snow was starting to melt and get a little icy on certain runs. I was pretty much practicing switch the whole time. I feel like a total newbie falling after three feet, but whatever I can now ride switch.

Wooo Hoo. It'll be my first trip up this year. I imagine I'll get three runs in and it'll be time to get the drink on. I'm such a loser...

How is Homewood for beginners? Going with some friends this weekend, and 90% of them have never snowboarded before. How are the crowds/bunny slopes at that resort? The only other resort we're considering is Heavenly.

Good thing I go to Utah the following weekend with other friends...

IMO, that reminds me more of the Midwest. In CA (especially L.A.), the people seem to wear jackets/scarves/beanies once the temperature hits the low 60s.

Or Canada, where it really gets cold!

I'd hit up Homewood before Heavenly. It's cheaper, and for a beginner it's not going to matter. Plus the vibe at Homewood is very good, crowds are generally smaller and the resort is smaller making it easier for a group of varying abilities to hook up at a certain time for lunch.
