I don't care what I have to do I am getting that 04 Enduro. The reviews on that bike are ALL really good and it suppose to only weigh about 30 lbs (which isnt much more then my A1 comp) It would be nicer to have a little more travel on some of those rocky areas and technical down hill parts (the few there were today)......geesh....it seemed there were more up hill segments then down hill & no flat parts.......at the end all I was thinking was "will these up hills ever end".
I'm going to deffinately get a 100cc camelback this week (a good one). With summer coming on I'll die without one.
Thanks all......the trails were great and the company was greater.
I will see you next weekend (can't ride tomorrow....got too much homework and study to do for next week.)
Cheers

And I'm back. Was a pretty fun ride today. Two of my favorite things..
1. Dry trails and lots of sun
2. Hot chicks jogging
No pics of the chickies
.
So anyway, I rode the clementine loop and then climbed stagecoach to flood, part of flood and then came back down. As it turns out, that bottle of wine I drank last night...and the 3 shots of vodka sort of made it hard to climb today
.
I was having fun on Confluence until I got stuck behind this downhiller guy who couldn't pedal his bike up and over the rocky "hills" along the trail. I couldn't believe it when I saw him walking
. Then I pinch-flatted about half-mile from the end of Confluence. And it was at that time that I remembered I had forgotten to mount a pump to the frame of the Epic and that I wasn't carrying a pump or Co2 in my pack
. I'll be going to Mike's Bikes later for some Co2 and a filler. Once I got back to the car I replaced the tube, pumped up the tire (glad I had my floor pump in the wagon) and climbed up stagecoach to flood. Then I rode back down :wiggle:.

FYI/FWIW: I carry my pump in my Camelback Mule. That way I never forget, no matter what bike I'm on and it keeps it from getting full of mud.

How's the suspension feeling? Wish I could have gone with you. How was the climb up clementine?

The bike is feeling great though. I'm extremely comfortable on it. Removing some pressure from the fork (which I did yesterday after our ride) made a huge difference in control and comfort. I softened up the rear for that bomb down the fireroad and for confluence, which helped noticeably over the bumpier sections. I cranked it back up for the climb up stagecoach and then the smooth, speedy descent down
. I'm really happy with how smooth the bike is and how well it handles at spped. I was concerned that it might be a bit sensitive but I find it very easy to control and track. I've also been looking farther ahead on the trail (re: my target fixation issues that keep dumping me in to the worst parts of the trail) so I'm picking better lines and planning ahead for obstacles and turns. Now for the important question..where and on which day are we riding next week?

That's deffinately not a bad idea. Putting the pump in the camelback.
I thought that I would be sore from yesterday's ride....but today I feel no ache or soreness. I think what really kicked me was the lack of water. ( And from my previous post....I plan on getting a 1 liter camel back.....lol... 100cc.....I'm going to be a great engineer if I keep that up
)

Being that it will be the start of spring break....I'm down for any time (or length of ride) I would like to do another Saturday run....but fairly early now that its getting warmer....say 8-9am.
The more I ride...the better I get.
By the way...here's the Specialized Enduro I'm trying to get......it even still has all its reflectors on it and ......fenders.....I hope I can get it.

I think I'm screwed for next week. We have opening day of Little League Baseball on Saturday, followed by some birthday party that will involve lots of drinking. That pretty much ruins Sunday for me too.

The wife was doing well on the trail for the most part, but just being out of bike shape makes a difference. That and the heat
I hate the heat and dust to tell you the truth. Guess when it get dusty like that it's best to stay back a bit.I think I'd like to ride one day this week after work. So let me know if that works for anyone...I'll have to check my calender at work tomorrow.

I generally tend towards smaller frames but as I have learned that got me in trouble with my current HT. I rode the L and XL Epic and liked the L, but I got the same leg extension with less seat post showing on the XL, which I'm more comfortable with. We shortened the stem and set up the handlebars and the comfort was instant. No regrets about going XL over L. The bike is a bit slower in the tight stuff than my HT but I think I just need to get used to the added length
.
Yeah - Randy was really cooking yesterday. I didn't set out to haul *** because I wasn't sure how I'd feel on the bike. Not only was it new, but I'd never ridden an FS bike on a trail before. Man I felt instantly comfortable on that bike, was able to really bomb through the downhill sections, I was climbing well and the bike just handles fantastically. At speed, especially on the return of the first part of connector, Randy and I were just full-out - in one case I went in a bit hot, grabbed the rear brake and slid it a bit. I thought I might low-side due to the lean :rotfl: but it held on. I was impressed, to say the least.
As for riding this week, I can't make it. The hardest part about my class schedule is that I don't get in to work until 10 so I can't get out of work until 6 or so, which doesn't put me up to Auburn until 6:45 at the earliest
. The week following this week I have spring break though, and would literally be interested in riding 3 days that week after work in addition to the weekends.
