06 Rs Mod Thread
yea i don't think any company is willing to work on the iAVLS cams, granted they are not much different then standard SOHC cams, but they need to take into consideration that when iAVLS kicks in the duration is already pretty long, the lash is what is not...
if you don't know how iAVLS works (not directed at anyone) i would read up on it...it's kinda like vtec but not exactly (same principal though)

hey folks. i was kicking it at rs25 and there's this great product for us. They finally released a Drive By Wire - Throttle Body Spacers for our cars. Here's the site. www.groupa.ca
Throttle Body Spacers supposedly helps increase mpg and low end torque.
Anyone in canada could have first dibs on the product since the company resides there. thus faster shipping.

hey nocigar.. nice car! Is that a fully functional hood scoop?? just wondering because in case of water issues since we got no intercooler.
btw, do you still have pics of your weapon r installment in your engine bay??

a hoodscoop will cause no problem if there is no intercooler there, water can get into the engine bay with no problem (if you have the stock air intake or an after market one the filter is away from the scoop, and now just that but if it rained and water got on the filter...it's not enough water to cause any problems)
indeed. i've had the hood scoop for about a year now, driven in rain, snow, hard beach and no problems whatsoever. still wish they had a non scoop CF hood for our model. sorry, i dont have any intake pics, but its honestly not diffcult to do, i will try to take a picture this weekend for you, now that i've added the ram section also.

I finally did my first mod on my car, it was free, so it was worth it. a Fram replacement panel filter. I actually notice the performance difference from the standard cotton one. you can hear the i-AVLS engage on it now. I will record it today if possible. it is REAL loud inside the car, and I love that
less throttle usage at low speeds before it starts to go, and at low end--taking off stright from2nd gear [4EAT here] you hear the intake working like crazy to breathe in air, almost like a different air intake. once I get rid of that silencer and get a STi Axleback then I am completely done with my car mod-wise as it will be a daily driver until 09 and a Legacy will be in front of my house
I LOVE how it runs now though. it is like a whole 'nother car

is there anyway i could swap the 06 with 05 heads so i could get rid of iAVLS. I know it sounds dumb but i really want cams so i can actually make decent power. How difficult would it be to even revert back to the old 16 bit ecu?
well you'd need the heads, the wiring harness, ecu, and a lot of labor...not to mention the $400 or whatever for the cams...it's not going to be cheap at all...the heads would cost a lot of money...you can get cams for the car is you don't want avls...
because if you read the link all avls does it activate a lock between the 2 valves and lock them together so they move at the longer duration lobe...if both lobes are the same size and it locks them together...no harm is done because they are the same size...

so basically you are saying i can take the old cobb cams and make them work with my stock head?
if that works, can i even tune the 32 bit ecu?
i've heard it learns its way around reflashes

the axleback i think so...
back to thebetguy...im not 100% sure...the cam length or design might be a tad different but you could prolly send your current cams out to be reground to be equal size lift/duration and just say f'it to avls...but im not 100% sure if the older cams are the same length and such as the newer ones...that you'd have to check out on...
but do remember this...the new 2.5i for 2008 is the same heads and cams...and i think the newer legacy has AVCS and AVLS on it's intake/exhaust so it shouldn't be long till a company comes out with an AVLS cam design (they already have AVCS cams and they didn't appear till '04 and only on the STi till '06)

right...is your car an auto by any chance? since that "burnout" at the beginning of the video seemed like an auto peal out, cause it only sounded like the front tires "lost" traction...cause the autos are not a 50/50 split AWD, they are more like 85/15...but it could of been since it was dark out
also the label on the video seems a tad misleading since you call it a drift and i don't think i saw 1...all i saw was your making the tires scream...and on re92's that doesn't require much haha
annnnnnd at the end of the "short drift" it sounds like someone slammed into the curb or something right before the clip ended

yeah the integra in the short drift did slam... hella funny. the peel out was my friends mom's tuarus, and my car is not an auto, and i was sliding because i have no front sway and a 26 in the back, its hard to tell in the video because the angle sucks.
