Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Also got my yellow rockblockers for fogs, and 6000k HID kit, but didn't have time to take night photos.

STI sideskirts coming in Fall. I'm done for summer mods.

^^2004 WRX axleback. DEEP rumble , better throttle response, and my butt dyno notices a gain once the i-AVLS kicks in, and a stealthy look to boot

Car Info: 2006 Subaru 2.5i
Whats up all just got a used 2006 2.5i with 25000 on the clock. I'm a muscle car guy but I definitely like my little Subaru. Handles pretty good stock. The first owner installed a small spoiler and axle back exhaust already. What I'm curious to know is if anyone has torn apart the engine and taken a look at piston to valve clearance, what type of pistons are running in it flattops, domes, dishes, the intake and exhaust runner designs on the heads. Has anyone done a light port or polish on the head or intake to remove casting flash? Can you do a port match on it? BETGUY I would check on these things before you start thinking about cams and such as this is a good foundation for future HP numbers if you plan on keeping the heads that is.

I know by reading on this thread that we have an equal length exhaust manifold but has anyone seen or heard about an actual equal length tubular header for this car? A tubular header will always work better then a manifold because the inside of the tube is smooth and doesnt have any sort of rough areas inside from the casting to create tubulence in the exhaust flow.

I guess thats it for now until I can think of some more questions.

I just have bolt ons: test pipe, intake, lwcp, catback. I heard that there will be cams coming out in like 3 months. If there are and i have enough money for those and a tune, along with PP6 or some other piggyback, then i will slap them puppies in there and let you know... but i also need to save up for new internals.....and while my heads are out i might as well get a port and pollish... so i might be a while before i have enough money- i'm thinking 3 grand

One more question. What have people heard about the Ksport Kontrol Pro coilovers? Are they any good? Longevity? Performance? Does anyone here run them or know someone who has a set?

Cool. Of the half dozen engines that I've built the best ones have been the ones where all the parts have been properly matched up. For example my last engine was a 470hp small block 360 Mopar made to run with a 180 hp single shot of nitrous. I made it to wind up to 7200 and for most of the power to come in after 5000 rpm. With that in mind I used big 1-7/8 tube headers and large exhaust piping mated to a cam, intake and carb dialed to work at high RPM. Not to mention porting and polishing of heads, larger valves etc. Then matched the tranny, stall converter, and rear end up with the engine. It worked awesome on the strip and won me a few bucks on top of that.

The question you need to ask yourself is what do you want to do with your Subbie? Track car, Auto-X, street strip, commuter, or whatever else. If you want high rpm power then bore out the throttle body some but you'll probably lose some low end torque when you do that. To what size I couldnt tell you. Call up a shop that specializes in Subaru's and get some size ideas from them. They might even be able to tell you whether or not its worth doing it and if they have any experience with it.

Seriously though I would wait until the cams came out on the market so you can determine what the peak HP/torque RPM's will with that cam profile and then work the engine internals to match the cams. This way all of you parts will be working together and not opposing each other or complimenting each other. Thats what I'll be doing once the warranty is out on mine at least. I'll probably start with an intake port match on the engine. Easy job and it'll only take me a day to do it. That will free up some mid to high RPM power right there.

Whatever you decide to do think it out and talk to as many people as you can about your ideas. They might be able to steer you towards good things or away from money wasters.
