Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

i believe the WRX brakes will bolt on fine (if it's a wagon i think the rear needs something) as for the STi i think you need a kit to convert to using it.

but i thought the WRX used the same setup the 2.5i used (just better pads and maybe a larger rotor)...the 2.5i is 2pot/1pot right? and i thought that was the same setup on the WRX or is that a 2pot/2pot? (the sti is 4pot/2pot i believe)

thanks zavier, from what i've read the 2.5i is 4pot/2pot same as the WRX, however, the rear 2 pots are wider apart so a simple adaptor will space the two pot rears for a 290X18mm rotor. time to hunt some brake kits down.

Thumbs up

hello new people!

i just got a 07 impreza 2.5i [auto] (crystal gray), its only 4days old and already installed a muffler (just a universal one) and boy does it make a difference even with the stock 2" piping! (cant wait till i my next check, then i'll go have custom 2.5" piping done from the cat back) then i'll get the tien drop springs, then rims, then start ordering some CF items (hood/trunk/lip kit)

i've been looking at this site for a couple of days now, seen some very nice looking 06+ 2.5i's

anyone else from colorado?

i'll see if i can get my camera to do a little video and see if the sound comes out. if it does, i'll post it up

i still have the factory piping/resinator installed, and it gets loud when you step on it/rev it up, i had to take it into the dealership today, and my sales person loved the way it sounded! lol (cant wait till i order the new prodrive mid-pipe, and finish the custom axel back piping) [should get a LOT louder, lol]

i'm also debating it i should delete the cat or install a high flow one to match the prodive mid-pipe.

Unless your going to do alot more mods, your not going to get much of any power altering your cat, so only do it if you want to make it louder

a lot of good mods in this thread...i plan on doing a few when i have time to my '07...but i wanted to know...is an intake and exhaust a "proven power" gain or does it do much of nothing? i'd like to be able to gain more power but i'm not 100% what will do that without having to go the FI route (which at this point i'd rather do an all motor build in all honesty)...

so out of all the mods you could do to the 2.5i what would give the most power? (i.e. has anyone had a dyno done since they did their mods to see if there were any change? i know some companies "claim" their CAI/Rams give +5-10hp but i HIGHLY doubt those numbers are true...)

so my list of mods that can be done are:
- CAI/Ram (which of these two is actually better?)
- Exhaust
- Light Weight pulley (smoother rev right?...so not really a hp gain)
- Light Weight Flywheel (again...)
- Headers
- HFC/Delete all together
- Cams (someone said that isn't really needed on the 06-07's but still wondering)
- when the f will we see an AP for our cars? haha

CAI / Exhaust / pulley / flywheel / headers/ HFC
I'm guessing you're looking at

15-20 whp gain max?
So it'll come to about 190-195 crank hp?

Just some guesses since it's all bolt ons and deletes.

yea im assuming more power would come from doing engine mods such as cams...port/polish stuff like that...

once the cams and internals and engine management are done, then you'll expect A LOT more hp gain

i'm looking into getting a short ram over a CAI cause i don't need to turn my engine into a water pump...

i was looking at either the Weapon R or the Injen...on rallitek the injen cai is like $260 for the '06-'07...but in the wrx section there is an actual injen short ram for the '05 for $170 (http://rallitek.com/inshramin.html) i just wanted to know if that will work with the 2.5i or is the short ram tube on the CAI set actually longer?
