Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

my buddy has it in his 97 or 98 L impreza. w/ the silencer on it sounds nice and mellow.. but once you remove the silencer... its quite menacing, especialy on the NA block. in other words.. its really loud.

Yeah I talked to the guy and ive decided to go NA, BUT its gonna be a bit different. Hes in love with imprezas and subaru in general. Hes loyal to the Rally autoX idea and says he doesnt wanna see me with turbo lag.

Hes talking about going super lightweight on the whole drive train (flywheel, shafts, internals, oils, gears, trans) to save as much of the MADE hp to the wheels as possible. He also was talking about building the motor with new heads, rods....etc, so that i would put a raw 265hp with a redline of 8,000. THATS what im talking about. a fast and HIGH spinning engine that has ALL hp disposable at my command right after a tight turn....

Allright, im heading to the snow right now. THATS the real reason for my 2.5i. SNOW BABY!!!!

wow 265hp sounds very very nice. so does 8,000 rpm redline. you might want to think about reliability as well. just a thought

what would 265hp be at the wheels then? or is that claiming 265 at the wheels and not the crank?

its not too crazy to think...its about 120 hp gain to the wheels...u gotta think...its yur doin all yur internals yur gonna be addin a lot more hp than just addin an intake or exhaust...a buddy of mine added pistons and they added almost 30 hp alone

if you increase the redline by changing the cams and pistons (i know there has to be more but i have no clue what) do you have to disable some sort of rev limiter? cause if the 2.5i is meant to redline at 6600rpm (i forget) and you have it rev to 8000 wont that cause a problem?

also would you have to change the tach?

Question Ski Rack Question

Sorry guys... I was wondering if anyone else has this ski rack and if they did, how did they mount it? I bought it but my friends and I couldn't figure out how/where to mount it because when we tried it on the door, the window will clip the hook every time...

If anyone had pix that would be awesome too

Thanks guys!

Hey guys, new member, got an aspen white 06 2.5i.
Just done really light mod's to it so far, but planning for a lot in the near future.
I've installed some HID's and ordered my STI wing from spoilerdepot.com.

Anywayss, I was curious as to whether or not anyone's running COBB's SS Catback on their 06? It's available at my dealership and I was told that any 04+ catback exhausts will fit 06 models with the flanges reversed ( can anyone verify? ). I was interested in the Espelir Catback at first from RalliTek but I've read that it's a little too loud.. even obnoxious, and that's not what I'm going for. Also, I was just wondering if anyone knows where you can get a Weapon-R Short Ram for cheap in Canada.
Thanks in advanced and I hope I can contribute to the community in future.

brakes upgrade?

is it possible to simply buy WRX or STI brakes (rotors, lines, callipers, etc..) and install them on the 2.5i? obviously fluids need to be regulated and tuned. but do any extensive mods have to be carried out?
