06 Rs Mod Thread
you unplug you're stock ecu, and then plug the pp6 and it stays there. it's an actualy ecu unit. i don't really know what reflash is, sorry.
It adds about 8-12whp. The difference is noticeable, its like when you first put on the weapon r. it definatley helps if you have an intake and exhaust, because it enables you to get max power out of those.
when i was using the stock ecu, there were days when i felt like the car was running a turbo, and there were days when it felt like i was driving a tractor. does anyone else get that?? The ecu has pretty much eliminated that. It's definately worth getting if you plan on doing extensive engine performance. Its an extra 200 bucks from the weapon r for slightly more hp gain. I got it because i plan on getting a turbo kit in the future, although the mechanics can mod your stock ecu for this application.

yeah but isnt the pp6 for non turbo only. once you get a turbo wont you have to get a different engine management system?
a reflash is like the cobb ap, you plug it in, remap your stock ecu, and unplug it and run the car from there..
does anyone know of a unit like that for our car. does Cobb make one... im not sure i want to spend 500 for 12 hp

i was doing some searching today and i stumbled upon this particular part that increases hp and improves fuel economy.
it called a throttle body spacer. does anyone make this because i know that a lot of people who own 2.5rs's are looking for this part and its hard to find. (reference: rs25.com)
just wanted to share..

Cobb doesn't make an AP for us yet. But according to the latest issue of Subiesport there will be one avalible fall/winter for the 05's and 06's, and they did have a test one themselves.

2002 WRX: 20mm rear sway and exaust review
got the 20mm bar on (the 2.5i wagon stock was 13mm, measured it with a metric wrench
) and the WRX exhaust this AM, the bar i have not had a chance to push tooo much buuut... maybe a little oversteer now? i pushed it good around a hairpin, it nosed in a bit more than i was expecting, nothing drastic, so over all i think it seems pretty neutral.
The Exhaust is nice, I'm not 100% about gains as it was cool this morning. maybe it seems to rev a bit quicker? certainly is a bit bass-ier, there is bit of drone at cruising but it is a nice engine noise and not buzzy or raspy, just a deep, low hum. **** it's a stock WRX exhaust so! bah, it can't be too loud. little bit more audio feedback for what the engine is doing for me, nice.

a few questions..
For all of you folks who got the WR intake, did you lose your low-end torque, because if so, i'm just gonna buy myself a drop in filter.
For the upcoming COBB AP for our cars, i know its a reflash but would it be possible to return the ecu back to stock settings because as much as I really want to get one, I don't want to lose out on my warranty. Especially my extended 6 year 75k warranty which costed me 2k.
Just wondering.. thanks.

yeah we reflashed my buddies sti back to stock the other day for smog check. and then right back to the stage two map. before you use it though, you need to go on their site and read some extra direction that dont come with the unit. like how you have to connect these two little green things under your sterring wheel...
but short asnwer, yeah cobb makes reflash type programers.
and for the WR intake bottom end power question. i dont think i lost and torque. actually a bit more i think.

i think they felt injen was a better contract to carry. i still think the weapon R is a better intake. ill see how it performs in below freezing temps at 6,000ft altitude. that should be a blast.
Just installed a Karboy short throw shifter on my 06. Much tighter feel and it got rid of an annoying vibration coming from the shifter when letting off the gas in 3rd gear. Stock might have just been loose but the short throw is nice.
