the reason i want to do this work on my car is because a)our cars are lighter than wrx and sti. b)although we dont have the DCCD, we do have a viscouse dif, meaning its mechanical and not electronically controled. c)the only difference from the wrx/sti block is that the internals are alot stronger and i think they might be twincam...
either way, the AVO turbo kit is supposed to take the stock 2.5i up to 250hp. thats more than a wrx, add a good cam, lighter flywheel, a good clutch, brakes, exhaust, and all the other basic goodies like engine management, and you can easily have a 280-300hp 2.5i.
i know its gonna cost bank, and i know its gonna be a few years, but thats my goal. in the end itll be a hell of a lot of fun to do this, but itll also be a hell of a lot cheaper than an STI

I think as far as some type on engine managment goes i think i'm going to wait for the cobb accessport, Subiesport did a NA build and got there hands on one, and they also say that it should be avalible to buy full/winter for 05 and 06. Tho on that note, i've never heard anything bad about the PP6 on the forums i've read either. Just something about the way AP works that i'm more interested in trying it.
yea subiedrift thats what im tryin to do too...and they have a front mount available now too for that avo turbo so we could easily pull 400 hp out of our car with some work if not more

right on bro, i dont know if i would want to puch our block to 400, 300 is about as far as i would want to push it. the sti block can take it to like 500, but i dont know about ours, 400hp would require a LOT of boost. 30+ lbs
it wouldnt take too much boost...6 psi with a stock engine with the AVO turbo puts it at 265 at the crank...front mount intercooler added would prolly push it to 290-300...so if u think about it u only need a 100 more hp...now if u added intake, catback, pp6, pulleys, new cams, etc. etc...without even raisin the psi u could possibly hit 400...if u raised the psi after all that even to only 10 psi, youd be over 400...
o and the pp6 is a new ecu...go to rallitek.com and look at the 06 parts for the impreza and youll find it in engine management

You're right that PSI isn't the only thing that makes power, free flowing components do play a part as well. But, think about it. If an STi is making 300 or so at 14+ PSI, then you're not gonna make 400 with 6 PSI plus a turbo-back & cold-air...
yea i get what your sayin...and im not sayin that u can buy the turbo and front mount and a couple bolt ons and be pushin 400...but u gotta remember that the sti is just runnin a stock turbo...yea its a performance car with performance parts but all the parts can be upgraded...by turbo'in ours with the aftermarket which puts it at 265 plus the front mount which makes a HUGGGEE dif then adding the new ecu, cams, catback, intake, etc. etc..maybe raise the psi a lil and u could very well hit 400 with a good tune...but trust me, i get exactly what yur sayin...its def not an easy over the weekend task haha
wow,.. you folks seem to be power hungry.. i think if you were to buy the avo turbo kit and fmic and all the other stuff, i think you'd have to change your tranny too..
as for my supreme goal for my car,.. i'm just gonna have some cams, ecu, pulley, intake, msd, new spark plugs,.. and maybe a high flow cat. anything that increases power and fuel economy is what i want for my daily driver. hoping to acheive around 200+ hp at the crank.
idk about exhaust,.. i don't want my car to be loud. I've seen my friend's cat-back for his mazda pro5 and it was pretty silent enough to still play classical music..

If you can set off car alarms in parkades, then you're exhaust is good enough.
All I have is the Sti axelback and a non-resonated midpipe. And yes, I can set off alarms

georges STI is at 365 with 27lbs of boost. each lbs in psi you go up provides less and less power. for example 10-11psi gives you 9 extra, 11-12psi gives 8 extra... only an example, not real numbers..
also it looks like we are being super generous with the amount of HP we tag to each part. in reality, its alot less.

you need to do a lot of engine reinforcment work if you want to pump anything over 6psi boost. If you wanna buy the avo turbo kit, you still need to change the clutch on the car, states on rallitek website. you can definatley beat stock WRX and stock STI.

yeah thats true, clutch, flywheel, not to mention with that power you need braided brake lines, better pads, drilled or slotted rotors. i would also invest in suspesion work before the turbo. new bushings, sway bars. I already have the front strut bar, but a rear one would be good too.
but the car has to be ready for extra power...

yea def subiedrift...it takes a lot of work not just in the engine but everwhere...it would take a lot to do...thats why im just startin with pp6, cat, intake, pully, and shortshifter and in the future if its not fast enough for me ill start more extensive work
