So it sounds like the bottom line is...

ahh man youre in for it! make sure your pants are waterproof. Teaching snowboarding equals a wet *** for the teacher from waiting at the bottom.

i just tell people lean forward so the rear of the board is almost in mid air, then rotate or turn with your rear.

Also make sure they understand how the board actually makes turns by flexing and making a curved line on the snow.

Butter the bread (keep edges up)

how people dont understand from here on out is beyond me

oh noes !!! Your famous bit of advice has re-surfaced! Where's Jeff (aka ipozestu)?

Nah... just playing Kyle. We get it: Always be sure to keep your 'downhill' edge from catching.

We gonna rip up a boarder-X course sometime this season? I'm sure all your Moto & MTB experience helps out big time!

I hope Sierra will have the backside open by Fri! I love that fun to be had off that li'l two-seater (El Do chair).

HELL YEAH! ima pump dem bumps for show

the only BX course i've ridden seriously was Northstars two years ago, it was massive, 30 foot deep berms X4 nice rythym.

Ive been on Sierras BX course but dont remeber it.

I want to try Boreals BX, any place that claims to have one must be worth trying, especially since its $15 Fri for students

So I decided I'm gunna get her a 2hr lesson to get her going then I'll take it from there. If its too hard to learn with me after that I guess well dish out some more $$ for another lesson.
Also, I really like that analogy with buttering the bread, she'll have no choice but to understand edges when I tell her that

Up in Tahoe right now, tahoe city.

Lots of snow but it feels not so cold and is supposed to warm up over the next couple days. Come sooner than this weekend if you can.

yeah there was a big debate over that phrase.

It makes sense, you have a raw piece of bread that you need to butter (i dont know...say for a grilled cheese) you keep the knife edges up as to not tear the delicate bread apart aka fall on your ***

Wow! I didn't know N* had a BX course. I haven't been there in maybe 3 or 4 seasons. The crowds are just too bonkers. I was told that the regular parking lot is now right off the turnoff fr: Hwy 267. Ya gotta hop a shuttle to get to the village. Sounds like they've built up an @$$-load of stuff since my last trip. I also heard that their parks have been even better than in years past, so I may have to pay them a visit on a very non-busy weekday! Plus, I've wanted to check out the Stash for some time now. So the whole BX thing just might get me to give them another chance this year.

Also, I was just looking at Sierra's park report online... they've got plans to have a buncha new parks throughout the mtn. Unfortunately, they're moving the BX course onto the really mellow green run on the backside & putting a regular park in its place. I certainly hope they rope off that portion of the run to we don't get bunny hill graduates crossing into the course as fools go charging down w/ their buddies! Yikes!

Man, it's been years since I smashed the course at Boreal. I 'member me & my cousin's boyfriend (now her hubby) did a few laps tearing thru there way back when. It was along their not-often-used lift way down to looker's right. I wouldn't even know where they might have it nowadays, but I'm down for a Fifteen-Dollah Friday Sesh in the next month or two, bruddah. Lemme know.

Damn, all this talk about parks fr: a self-proclaimed freerider. Depending on conditions, I probably only cruise the parks maybe less than a quarter of my time on the slopes. Nuthin' extreme... medium jumps, basic stuff on simple rails & boxes. Ya know... stuff the Flying Tomato could do right out the womb!
