private lessons would be the best way to do it, but probably not the most cost effective.

Yeah im thinking of getting her a 1 hour private session just so she knows the very basics (how to get off lift, lean forward, edges) then I'll take it from there.

I hear you man. I been riding for some years now and at the level way beyond the noobie stage that my gf is at. She ***** about everytime we go I leave her by herself.. but dude.. it's so tempting to do some runs rather then watching her sliding down the hill on her ***..

Anyhow, going this friday with a buddy.. and no girl. finally get some alone time to hit up some nice powder yay..

Unless she already has her own board & stuff, the lesson package is the way to go. It's actually MORE cost-effective. Plus, you'll both be less stressed & frustrated.

Assuming she's a 1st-timer, which it sounds like she is: Why pay for an all-mountain lift ticket? Her beginner pkg includes a beginner lift ticket, rentals & 2-hr lesson for maybe $75. Pretty much what we pay for a lift ticket w/o any special discounts. If y'all go are going to South Lake, hit up Sierra@Tahoe & use the AmEx 'half-off' discount... http://www.sierraattahoe.com/info/amex.asp. And if you actually ride/ski on Friday, she can take advantage of the 'Learn for $25' deal going on this week. http://www.sierraattahoe.com/events....learntoski.asp

So not only are ya saving some serious moolah, but ya may also be saving yourselves fr: (possibly) huge headaches. She'll be more comfy since there will be other n00bs, just like her falling on their faces, asses, sides, etc. Plus, you're free to do your thing for a couple hours. Of course, you could do the "I'm such an awesome boyfriend" thing & ride passed the bunny hill to check that she's cool.

Hope this helps, bro. Btw, I'll be riding Sierra on Friday. :RockOn - not mine:

haha seriously..it's gunna be so tempting to just go off on my own for a little. Most likely I'm just gunna ride my park board and practice some buttering while im teaching her.

IMO the most important thing when teaching a first time snowboarder/skier is having decent gear. Boots/bindings/board that fit and clothes that keep you dry and warm are so important. Nobody will want to learn if their feet hurt and their *** is all wet!

When ever I teach a beginner, I always tell them to stay on an edge either heel or toe (never flat footed cause you will catch and edge and slam) and if they want to turn, put the leading hand out and point the direction they want to go (it generally works) Once they get those concepts its really up to them to experiment what works best for them...its always tough teaching the girl friend how to ride! I just try to motivate and be patient, if they want to learn, they will get it in time.

My 2 cents.

teaching sig. others how to ride is a bad idea.

Have her get some lessons. follow with her. don't say a word.

I tried to teach my then girlfriend now wife. It didn't go well. She is the only person out of I don't even know how many... probably well over 20 people that'd I've tought that didn't learn.
