Stoked on Jackson Hole! My buddy from Boulder lives up there and ski patrols in the winter. I've basically got free lodging and tickets any time I head up that way.
I'm headed up to Tahoe on Thurs. night and riding Fri-Mon. (in-laws are in town and they're skiing FREAKS).

Maybe you go to the wrong places in tahoe, tahoe is well known for some of the best powder because they get really dry pow.
I will say it sucks this last week due to the ice over but you seem to have your facts misconstrued.

i thought tahoe was more like the wet/thick powder. i think its Utah or something with very fluffy light powder
either way, tahoe is still awesome after a good snow

apparently you don't knwo what a snow base is, and only understand the concept of recent snowfall.
and you answered you own question. base is what has accumulated over the season. aka what all the powder is resting on. kirkwood has 130 inches, but thats new snowfall, (from the snow, on top of a 25 inch base) new snowfall is NOT base. i was up at tahoe for the majority of the storm, i didn't miss it.
here's an example of base.
before a storm you stick a pole in the ground, it goes in X amount of inches. thats the base Number. after the storm you stick the pole into the ground, now you have X amount of inches on TOP of the BASE. this is considered new snowfall. eventually, some will disappear but soem will stay, adding to the BASE. you don't count a fresh storm as a base. right now kirkwood has X amount of inches of new snowfall on top of a 30 odd inch base.
lol where do you even get this idea. go board any other place besides vermont and the p0w blows tahoe out the ****ing water. tahoe powder is slush compared to utah/colorado/indiana/b.c./Whistler/etc.

Considering we're all referring to Kirkwood's snow report...
> Season Total Range... 182-222"
> Base Depth... 100-130"
We can say that the 182 inches of snowfall has been compacted down to 100 inches, which is their current base depth in the base area. Same idea at the summit: 222 inches of snowfall has compacted down to 130 inches.
Btw, I wonder if "Season Total Range" refers to only natural snowfall? Because I imagine that "Base Depth" probably includes their contribution from snow-making.
Still ENVIOUS/JEALOUS/ETC...
