I'm in Sac so I don't really go to any meets in the BA. Sac meet is gone; closest is Davis or Elk Grove which I've maybe attended once. But if you want to get together let me know...

lol where do you even get this idea. go board any other place besides vermont and the p0w blows tahoe out the ****ing water. tahoe powder is slush compared to utah/colorado/indiana/b.c./Whistler/etc.
apparently you don't knwo what a snow base is, and only understand the concept of recent snowfall.
and you answered you own question. base is what has accumulated over the season. aka what all the powder is resting on. kirkwood has 130 inches, but thats new snowfall, (from the snow, on top of a 25 inch base) new snowfall is NOT base. i was up at tahoe for the majority of the storm, i didn't miss it.
here's an example of base.
before a storm you stick a pole in the ground, it goes in X amount of inches. thats the base Number. after the storm you stick the pole into the ground, now you have X amount of inches on TOP of the BASE. this is considered new snowfall. eventually, some will disappear but soem will stay, adding to the BASE. you don't count a fresh storm as a base. right now kirkwood has X amount of inches of new snowfall on top of a 30 odd inch base.

You add the base and new snowfall together that gives you the new base (assuming you don't wait 2 days after the storm)
The new snowfalls and is there 20 inches lets say. the base is 20 inches higher, maybe 2 days later some has melted and blah blah so the base is less. I think you are incorrect man..........
and who cares??? when there is 12 feet of new snow I don't give a **** what you want to call it.
All I know is many people agree Tahoe has awesome powder. You saying its the worst ever shows me you didn't ride tahoe much or you started riding in the last 2 years.
We **** on the whole country and even canada for a while a couple years ago. It was amazing snow, very dry powder. You just can't deny that.

I'm sure there is a nats *** difference though

I understand what the base is I read you the number of their base. I've never seen fresh snow not counted on the base? You seem to be not understand how it works.

One thing I'll have to disagree with you on though is your statement:
"...tahoe is well known for some of the best powder because they get really dry pow."
First let me say that the only places I have ridden outside our beloved Sierras is Mt. Hood & Big Bear. Although I don't have first-hand experience with say Utah's renowned "CHAMPAGNE POWDER," I do understand basic meteorology. If you do, too, you'd know that our proximity to the ocean means our snowfall has the highest percentage of H2O. So I'm a bit puzzled as to how we have "dry" powder. Maybe I'll call my buddy that lives in Colorado to explain your theory to me.
So that's my piece o' the pie. I hope y'all get a chance to enjoy our cool & sunny conditions. I'll be @ Heavenly on Friday to use my Warren Miller voucher.

i went to Tahoe Dec 27th and i was sitting my *** in the dry powder all day waiting for slow pokes and didnt get wet.
I'm sure theres a difference but people who complain about a certain areas are just snobs or *******s...or PRO snowboarders

i've ridden long enough and far enough to have a view of many places in the world for snowboarding. indiana, tahoe, colorado, utah, wyoming, the french alps, the swiss alps, to name a few. i've seen my fair share of snow in my young life time, and yes, more than just 2 years worth. I believe to have myself a very wide view of types of conditions, types of powder, types of snow and types of terrain. tahoe is a mole hill. simple as that. tahoe does not have dry powder. not in comparison to many parts of the world.
Don't get me wrong, it may be dry compared to others but its middle at best in the spectrum of snow conditions. i'm not denying the fact people from all over the world come here to board, thats truth because almost EVERY location that has skiing as a tourist attraction has people travel from across the globe. You can name almost anywehre that has a mountain and snow and it will be a place where tourists will ski at.
Again, i LOVE tahoe, its fast, its convenent, and has great places to board. but its still tiny. I love every moment i get to shred up in the sierra's. It can be absoulate slush and you'll still see me in the park. THere's just bigger and better places out there which i prefer. thats all.

go to utah any year anywhere inbetween dec and march. you'll be blown away.

Wow! Why in the world are we arguing the nuances of snowfall measurement? We're all loco for that.

And remember that these are generalities that Tahoe & the Pac Northwest typically has "wetter" snowfall in comparison to that which falls in the Rockies. Key word: typically
Now let's squash this & go butter some bread...
