So I know two out of the three people that read this thread already know, but my Pale Ale just won best of show at the San Mateo County Fair. I'm f'ing stoked!
I'll also be renaming it to "Matt's Blue Ribbon"

I'm not much of a beer conisour (sp?) but I do know I love my beers with a little fruitiness to them. I'm lovin the Kona Passion pale ale. I recently tried the Gordon Heff. It was pretty good.
Can you guys recommend a good one to try?

I'm happy to have won, but I still want to see my scoresheet to see the comments.
I was looking at all of the winning style entries in the big display,. I wasn't expecting to see mine in there, although it would have been nice, so I was a little disappointed. Then I looked towards the Best Of Show case and saw an anchor steam bottle on the top shelf and was like "....no way" and went over and read the name on it and letter said "Holy ****! Come here!" to my mom who I had taken there since I got free passes for entering.
I mean, in the grand scheme of things, this is no biggie, but I'm stoked to have gotten BoS on my first competition.

So my first ever brew (had to search back in this thread to find the date) was on the Friday of 4th of July weekend 2009. I'd like to think that today's IPA will taste a little bit better than the American Light Ale I did two years ago. "It tastes like Budweiser, but good." was the response that one got.
