Haha, thank God for Muay Thai's clinching
Just hope I don't ever have to clinch with a judoist

I'm SO looking forward to the Crocop vs. Emelianenko fight!

In gyroogi, Olympic. But no more tournaments for me, to much politics are played there.

Yeah, there's a whole helluva lotta politics in the "traditional" styles of martial arts, especially those that don't involve full contact or knockout rules

I don't mean to knock anyone's style by the way

My experiance is the USTU (Olympic - WTF - progessive) are far better - they all use the same poomse (kata) and the test requirements are standardized. I'm not saying all schools are equal, but at least there is an effort to create standards and hold them. These standards are recognized by the IOC. There are lots of politics if you really want your school to have a chance to compete in the Olympic preliminaries.

In the Non-Olympic version (ITF - ATA) - The students at these schools seem to like them better. They do not all have the same forms (poomse). There is no consistant belt testing. Sparring is not required to get a belt. The belts are not even consistant between schools. Weapons are not consistant. I'm not kidding - you can buy a belt at some of these schools. There is a large school in the north east bay (I don't want to name the school and start a fight), if you buy the 2 year prepaid plan with equipment ~ $4000-$5000 they will guarantee your fist dan before the end of 2 years.

I have heard of this several times at other schools as well, but this is from someone that I know doing it. I have never heard of this in the USTU school system except black belts above 4th - there are some politics there, and belts may be awarded instead of earned.

Gotcha. And it's different than Olympic how?
Sorry and thank yew!

And on a side note, is it just me or is the lineup for this season's Ultimate Figher seem inferior to last season's?
