You really are a idiot arn't you. You have this rose colored view of the world where everyone will love each other and hug, and if a big Disaster happens no one will try to hurt someone else or take what is not theirs...

What ****ing color is the sky in your world, because in mine its blue, and humans are, by nature, violent creatures that will rape and kill if given motive to do such. Wake up kid, the world of Star Trek is fantasy.

If looterguy breaks into my home, or thretens to take my familys food/water/first ait, I am not going to just sit back and let it happen and go "oh he needs it more". You can do that all you want, and you will find yourself hungry, or dead.

****...the more you post the more I realise you must be slightly retarded, perhaps a IQ of 80 or so at best?

Thanks for posting this! I meant to do this before I got married for my wife and I. Your list will come in quite handy.

I'll be the first one here to tell you preserving life is very important. In order to preserve the life of others, you have to protect yourself and your family/friends first. If you cannot help yourself, you cannot help others.

If someone breaks into my home aggressively I'm going to assume they mean to hinder my attempts to survive in which case I would have to defend myself. That being said, if someone comes and requests my aid, and I can help, I would gladly do so.

I think Overbear has a similar philosophy, however you guys are taking the opportunity to blow him up because he's all for fighting when its needed. Some times it is needed, but you don't need to kill everyone Mr. Overbear :P.

I will gladly give aid when I can, and its asked of me. However, I do also believe it is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Somebody mentioned night vision goggles. Ive looked into getting some before but didn't want to end up buying some crappy one. It's not one of those things you can try before you buy. Which ones are good?

I just picked up a cheep monocular one (used for hunting and such), I think it was like $199 and that was 2 years back. Unless you really feel your going to be doing heavy fighting at night, or heavy hunting, save your money. All you need is a way to see a trail without moonlight and perhaps do a little deer hunting when your hungry (if things have gone that far)

I have actually been able to keep 3 bags which is 90 day supply and I just rotate stock for my dogs food i always keep at minnimum 5 cases of water in the home I dont touch.

I have 110 gallons on standby that I flush and fill every 2 weeks. Generator and fuel for evenings only.

Working on the human food part but MRE's are expensive and the army will only let me appropriate so much at a time.

As far as the home defense/zombie appocolypse. I am getting a new ak for myself but already have the M-4 for the wife and pistols with plenty of ammo. I actually found it really fun teaching my wife the ins and outs of gunfighting. It was suprising to me how good she is. So at least I know she has my back. Only prob is I only have 1 set of body armor and she will be the one wearing it.

Those cheap $200 sporting goods store NODs are a waste of money. Either save up for some real Gen 3 NV or don't get any at all. Also using night vision takes some getting used to. It's not like in the video games where they go "BWEEEEEEEE" when you power them on and you can automatically see everything. NVG's can make things up close look out of focus. Sometimes you can barely even see things 5 feet in front of you. They mess with your depth perception as well. Definitely try them first and then decide if you need them.

The cheap one works well for a quick toss it in the bag, need to find the trail thing. Sure its a Gen 1, but if its that or fumbling around in the dark, its a good way to augment your odds out in the dark.

Hehe, my partner will not learn the AR or any of my rifles, just isn't comfortable with them. So I got him a Mossberg 500, tossed a pistol grip, ghost rings, and shorter slide grip on it, now all he has to do is point, and pull the trigger. I load it up with #4 buckshot, there is very little he is going to miss down a hallway or in a bedroom with that.
