Anyone try Seirra's Hoptimum? I thought it was pretty crazy... At first I was punched in the face by the 10.4%ABV but then it settled down and was very drinkable.
Also scored a pile of Deschutes Hop Trip and a couple Hop Henge which are two favorites of mine. Admittedly I sound like a Deschutes promoter and sure - I'll wear that hat. They make amazing beer, and make it available for the people who love it without any detriment to quality.

1. I'll drink it if there is nothing else good (anchor steam)
2. I'll get it when available (PtE)
3. I'll actively seek it out (Abyss, Guinness Foreign Stout)
I'm still not a big Mirror Pond fan, but I love every other Deschuetes beer I've tried. Hell, I even have a stout goin right now that shoul finish around 10% ABV inspired by Abyss
And thanks again for those three bottles Jacob, very tasty!

How about the Firestone Anniversary? Saw it at WF the other day. I've heard of it, but have yet to talk to anyone who's tried it. Wasn't sure I wanted to drop $21.99 without feedback first.

My 1/2 drunk Pliny review:
It was OK. Maybe I expected more, but in the simplest terms it was a slightly hoppier version of Pliny the Elder. Strong as heck though :P
Will I ever drop 11.50 on a pint of it again? Doubt it. Was it worth it to experience it once. Absolutely.

I've decided to enter two competitions this year
I'm going to brew up a pale ale for a June comp in San Mateo, and then another batch of pale and some IPA for a Santa Cruz one in September, I may also throw the big ol' stout into that one too jut for the hell of it.

What? 11.50 is what they are charing for that now? Bastards! I remember getting it for less that 6 dollars a pint back in my day (well, only 2 years ago at Toronados). I do love that beer though.
