I detail stripped one once and it was the biggest let down ever. Rifle feed ramps, commercial bolt carrier. None of their stuff is mp hp tested.....so many ftf's on my buddies and he decided to not just sell it.....but throw it away. Then he bought the exact same rifle i have but mines modded.
That sucks to hear. Every review I've read has been pretty unanimous in saying that it's a pretty good rifle for the price. I'm trying to stay under about $600, so I'm very much in the 'beginner/budget AR camp'.

Anyone here a member or regular shooter at sunnyvale? I've been shooting trap there every saturday for a while now (although I'll be doing every other sunday in july as I have to work saturdays). I need to break out the AR one of these days.

Or better yet -- does anyone here do any action pistol/AR shooting that I can get in on?

Have you looked at del-ton rifles? I think they're around that price.

I wouldn't recommend loaning your loading gear or, more importantly, shooting someone else's reloads (definitely not an inexperienced reloader). Calguns has a section for selling reloading components if you want to get rid of the stuff.

I reloaded a few k rounds while 223 was $.50 per but its not worth it now. Handgun calibers that don't require trimming or deswaging are still sort of worth reloading but the added effort for necked rounds kind of nulls out the savings IMO.

People that "build these things for a living" told you to get Tapco products for critical operating parts?

I stocked up on a bunch of stuff back before the "end of thr world" and it has just been sitting around since.

I want to keep it not sell it but if anyone is interested in borrowing im not a stingy guy.
Ive shot plenty of reloads from other people, my own and my buddys. None of us are compitent reloaders.
But if you are using once fired brass that doesnt require trimming yet then it actually goes pretty quick.

We just make sure the case length is within spec. If not we throw them in the recycle bin.

It may not be worth the time and money now but these pieces of equipment will be worth their weight in gold when the next shortage or ammunition ban strikes.
Its more a reality for us AR guys.

I sold all my surplus brass during the last shortage for 10c a piece for 5.56.

100 bucks for 1000.

Kept 1000 pieces and traded 1000 pieces of brass for 1000 55fmj w/cannelure projectiles.

Need to stockpile a little more powder tho.

I had a tote that weighed over 200 lbs full of 223 556 brass. I used to shoot about 100 rounds at the range and then spend the rest of the day collecting peoples brass that wernt going to save it.

I must have made over $2000 on calguns when i wasnt employed selling just 223/556 brass during the shortage.
