It went from this.........

To this...........

Lost my job so had to give up the $1200 optics but it looks slick for a bare platform with flip up ARMS sights.
Some minor mods.
Shown is an israeli ergo grip, magpul stock, lowpro gas block with that spikes 13" BAR lightweight rail and a genuine d&h 30 lol.
Only difference now is the stubby tangodown quick release grip and a scalloped serrated flash hider incase i run out of bullets.

Went to Sunnyvale Rod&Gun today for a few hours to shoot my buddy's CZ 455 since I'm looking for another varmint gun. Slightly overcast and was a nice day to be out there. I thought we were going to shoot it .17 but he had the .22 barrel installed. Was a lot of fun. Also did some pistol with the 1911 and the M&P.

(I also have my CCW now)

The KX3/KX5 were designed for SBR's. It's similar in principle to the 4 piece Krink flash hider/booster. If you have a 16" barrel, it's totally unnecessary.

The standard A2 muzzle device will serve you just fine.

If it runs with the standard A2, then you don't need the booster/KX3. Most commercial 10 inch barrels are overgassed anyways.

And don't put a muzzle brake on a short barrel unless you're running a suppressor. Not only is it pointless and obnoxious, but you'll **** off every single person at the shooting range. If anything just get a good flash hider (which would actually give you some functional benefits) and call it a day.

from what im reading about shorty uppers a lot of people run the kx3/kx5 or the ferfrans to reduce muzzle flash. I'll have to do more research into it i guess. If i can get away without it, it saves me money haha

I want to order a new shorty AR pistol upper. Do I need anything else to make it work on my carbine?
Will my heavy buffer work still?

Paperwork?

It is illegal in CA to put a barrel less than 16" on a rifle/carbine lower. You have to put it on a pistol lower to make it legal. I don't think there's any paperwork that will allow a civilian to privately own any SBRs in CA.

Pretty sure you can do an SBR in CA, but it requires a lot of legwork and does not guarantee it will be approved since there are a large number of approvals required + a $200 "tax" and renewal.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA? - Calguns.net

Easier to build on a pistol lower or buy a pistol.

It basically says you can jump through hoops to own an SBR that's at least 50 years old. Doesn't really help anyone wanting a modern carbine unless you can find a Vietnam-era semiautomatic SBR.

+1

You need to finish an 80% lower and slap on a 'pistol' buffer tube.

Thinking about picking up an S&W M&P15 Sport in the next week or two. I'm about to head out to Vegas, and I'd like to have something to take with me for a big group shooting day that's going on while I'm out there.

The commercial grade smith AR is crap. You can get a lovely milspec rifle cheaper.
I detail stripped one once and it was the biggest let down ever. Rifle feed ramps, commercial bolt carrier. None of their stuff is mp hp tested.....so many ftf's on my buddies and he decided to not just sell it.....but throw it away. Then he bought the exact same rifle i have but mines modded.
