Searched, but didn't see any mention before.

Palmetto State Armory has just introduced a line of budget AR's to their lineup. Complete builds for $599 (intro price, will go up to $799 at some point) w/Magpul MOE furniture. Right now they don't have the CA compliant models, but they've said they'll definitely be making them, so I've been keeping an eye out and waiting for them to be available.

Link below to the ones that are available now. I'm also reaching out to them to see if the non-CA compliant ones can be made compliant before they ship them out.

Keltec KSG? I like that one and I've handled it as well, but not shot it. There's reports of reliability and feeding issues with that one though. Sometimes simple is best and that's why I have an 870 and a Moss 500.

I've heard the same issues with them, I stick to my standard mossberg 500, good enough for a marine good enough for me.

I like the old police magnum 870's with the wood stock and blued barrel.

I opted for a 870 tactical w/o pistol grip.

After firing a good 30 rounds of slugs and 00 buck thru a mossberg 930 spx with ghost ring sights I want one so bad. The action sounds flawless on it. Like a colt AR.
My buddy picked up the colt when they made it ca legal for a short time. Nicest AR ive fired yet. Action sounds so clean.
I still need to put lithium grease in my buffer tube. The guys at kerleys said it would quiet down the spring twang sound.

After I've held one I've wanted one so bad, can't justify two shotguns though and my 500 is a limited 1/1500 USMC edition so I don't want to sell it =\.

Sold my remington 870 a while back. Sad day.
Haven't owned a mossberg and Mel's doesn't carry them but I hear they are cheap and reliable from customers, which is never a bad thing. I don't have any self defense firearms but I do have an 870 wingmaster and well as a stoeger 2000. Rarely shoot the wingmaster anymore though since the change to a semi-auto boom boom

Cool, I do buy some things there and hadn't checked there. The chop sticks are working for now, but I think some fluorescent snap caps would be a lot easier to carry around.
Those things looks great! Can't wait til Mel's actually gets a firearm straight from Remington so we can actually order one.. All the remingtons they have are from other distributers...

agreed! for reliability ease of use, you cant go wrong with a mossberg. The remington I would sink too much money into haha

I heard the same things about them breaking and reliability and not being able to get one. I just think they look cool as hell.

The wood/blued ones have always looked good, but I went with a tactical with ghost ring sight also and I love it. The Moss doesn't feel quite as substantial, but the LOP and handling are better for her and she doesn't like the 870 as much for the opposite reason. It is primarily for her when I'm not there, so it working properly for her is most important. I've got no complaints about the 500 though.

I agree with that. Im in the market for a pistol but I want something the gf can shoot when shes home alone at night and feel confident. A heavier gun might be better rather than a polymer since limp wristing is consistant with an inexperienced female shooter.
The 500 is an excellent shotgun.
When I had my 870 I bought an aftermarket heatshield with ghost ring sight for the barrel cause I liked the look of the 500 tac so much lol.
After shooting the 930 semi auto im set on owning one.
