Hmm maybe it's like a barrel shroud to make the barrel looks smaller then what it really is?

Let's just call a spade a spade. That is basically the equivalent of spinner hubcaps for a rifle.

A mini-14 is nowhere near as rugged (or accurate) as a proper AR.

Even though the barrel is 16", I presume the overall lenght isn't Kommifornia compliant...so they probably need it to make it 26" long (or whatever it is supposed to be)?

Fake can is there to bring it up to CA's ghetto gun law of 30"

Since that one is fairly common, prices aren't that much different IMO. I got mine at Reeds and Targetmasters was only $10 less, but Reeds used to give out a free lane voucher with theirs, a $20 value if you're by yourself.

They drop off the roster in August, so I'd probably pick one up sooner rather than later. I missed out on getting a .45 last week because they sold out before I could pick one up since they dropped off the list on Friday Between the two of us, we have Glock, XD and M&P. The M&P is still my favorite.

I checked a few online places too and the prices shipped with FFL were basically the same as local, so just call a few local shops or check Gallery of Guns.

Yeah totally forgot they fall off the roster, just found one at a local store for $569 but I still feel that price is pretty high compared to what I see online.

Keep an eye in the pistol section of the marketplace on calguns, they pop up there. CA prices always seem to be higher for some reason.

That's about $30 more than I paid for mine at Reeds a few years ago, especially considering they had the .45 for $519. I was there this weekend but didn't notice pricing on the 9 or .40. Online pricing may not be the best judge because you are almost always going to have to pay FFL and sometimes shipping. I found it on Budsguns for about $100 less too, but when you factor everything in like I said, it ended up being within a few bucks.

If you wait until after they drop off, they can still be bought PPT, but once they're off I'll expect to see prices go up for a while for used ones for sure PLUS FFL.

Maybe because CA ones cost more to start with? Since it is a specific model for CA compliance

$750? That's crazy talk! Sounds like they are already trying to gouge people because they know they are going to go off roster and they will be in demand. Reeds on the other hand, was selling at cost because they said they'd rather sell them than have to ship them back to S&W.

Too bad the proper AR is still not for sale in the US.

H&K 416 would be my AR of choice.

Did you go look at that video of his review on it?
Or are you just making bias comments?

I own a built AR. And I would still love to have a mini 14 to thrash around.
Im not putting my 2200 bucks in the mud lol.
