Well I guess there needs to be an end to this thing about Neons vs. Imprezas. Well SRTdriven or whatever your name is, you can modify your neon however you want. But what really matters is 10 years from now when your neon doesn't run....wait....5 years you won't get anything worthwhile out of a resale of it compared to any subaru. Even a 15 year old subaru will have a higher resale. I don't see any 1,000,000 mile clubs for Neons nor do I think I will live to see any.

*sigh* I really really hope most SRT owners aren't like this. I kinda like the car....maybe a little, but I think with all the flaming in any thread, the point gets missed everytime. Stock for stock is a real crappy comparison in my situation being that my WRX stayed stock for oh about 1 week. I now push around 310HP. Soon I will be dropping a VF22 in with all it's accessories (fuel pump, fuel rail, FMIC, etc.) Anyway, I doubt any SRT can get near my car now or anytime in the near future on the track or strip just because I am ahead of the game just like many of you here, but if I happen to meet one that's faster than me, oh well, there will always be someone faster out there. It's all about the $$$
I personally would not own one myself, mainly because it's their first year out. Let me rephrase that statement.....It's their first year producing a forced induction neon ever. Something worried me when I first heard that Dodge had planned to build a turbo neon.
A friend of mine has a modified Focus ZTS. Let me tell you, his car handles great. I have a lot of respect for his car, but I never compare the two. Apples to oranges. Me with a modified 2.0 turbo car and him with a N/A 2.0. So with that said, if you want to use the good ole "stock for stock" comparo, you should be looking at the STI vs SRT (2.5 turbo vs 2.4 turbo).

Dude, don't call it a compact sports car, if there is nothing sports about it.

From Car & Driver:
"Highs: Power out the wazoo, bites into corners like a pit bull, the brakes never give up."
Bites into the corners, brakes never give up..... hmmm.
Maybe you should do some real research before you try to talk ****.
I find it funny how on the first page of this thread, you all were talking about how the SRT is the "trendy car for 16-17 year old wannabe racers", especially considering that for the past year or so, the WRX has held this title. Oooh... 170hp to the wheels, that's right up there with uh... an integra.

First of all, the neon is a marketing effort...the U.S. auto manufacterers want to capitalize on the, as they see it, small displacement-turbo-charged market.
We have seen the Neon, and soon there will be a Ford focus RS HERE too (maybe turbo?).
Remember when there was a mustang GT that was a 4-cylinder turbo?

SVO wasn't a GT, it was a higher end model. 16" wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes, Koni shocks, Hurst shifter, Garrett T3.
The 86 5.0 GT retailed for around $10k, the 86 SVO was around $16k. It was designed to compete with the BMW 3-series.
And the next Focus SVT will have a 2.3L turbo Mazda engine, supposedly making around 225hp.
