I'm sorry but i know many wrx drivers who would smoke srt-4's, secondly looking at both cars yes they are fast, and if i wanted to get a good car for the money it would definitly would be the wrx. The reason is because I have grown up with a family of "dodge/chrysler" owners and within a couple of years they suxed, REALLY BAD! When looking at the over all package definitly pick a wrx. thankyou and have a good night.

Car Info: 99 subaru impreza 2.2L coupe
Ummmmm..no. LOL. The SRT-4's 0-60 time is almost a half second slower than the wrx (5.8 vs. 5.4). Yes, you do have 33 more ft lbs of torque, I'll give you that. But c'mon, Dodge could only make 3 more hp out of almost half a liter more engine (2.4 vs 2.0). I'd put my money on a wrx any day.
HOWEVER! Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to judge someone just because of the car they drive. For pete's sake, my best friend drives a z24!! LOL! Just as long as they're not idiots running their mouths without a car to back it up.

you're crazy , i like you but, you are crazy man. wrx- 4 srt-0 . at least thats how my record stands. with only basic mods, filter and exhaust, compare all the stats you want but, the(PEE-ON) will never amount to a well built machine of the obvious.all in all, a sales pitch for people who love f&f

WOW, I remember reading this thread like a year ago, Well I have owned both a 98' 2.5RS and now an 04' SRT-4, now I have only had the 04' for about 5 month now, I must say the things I can comment on would be the interior and engine (minus the turbo of course). Well, I honestley would say as far as comfort and durability I do like the SRT interior much better, I like the Viper seats and really get serious, the subaru had cheap pleather like dash and interior and mine started to rip at the seams after about two years I had tears on all of the seats, mind you I hardly ever had anyone sitting in the back and the seams started to split on all of the seats, a buddy of mine has a wrx and the interior dosent seem to have changed too drasticly and also while driving long distances the seats would become very uncomfortable. I dont know if they changed this or not, but the paint sucked too, I ended up with tons of little rock chips all over my hood, this started right away, I had it repaired once and it just kept happening, in five months I have not had as much as a scratch in my paint with the srt-4. I cant comment as far as a comparison, but the other thing that pissed me off this the subie was that it started leaking oil after 60,000 miles and I had to replace the seals in the oil pump, not an easy task if anyone has ever done this and if you ever need to, plan on taking about a day and half your engine apart to fix it. I personnaly will never own another subaru mainly for that reason, im not trying to defend what the guy did in the begining of this thread, but thought it might help to hear a comparison from someone that has owned both brands.
As far as racing the only wrx I have had keep up had a turbo swap (garret gt30 I believe) he whooped my ***, but for the amount of money he spent he had better and I have raced my buddies wrx quite a few times and he ussually has had me off the line, but after the 60' I ussually blow his doors off, as far as an sti I havent raced one yet so I have no clue, stock for stock from a dig it should win, however im not stock and ussually run low 13's (when I can get good traction, it is true that fwd sucks to launch and keep on the ground), so stock I guess I would win but modified I would probalbly get whooped, maybe ill find out next time im out at the track.
I didnt read through this whole thread, but in case those questions werent answered, the exhaust manifold and down pipe are not one piece. STG 2 is approx 1400.00 with toys (dial a boost, ic sprayer, octane switch) and 900 without toys. The ECU is easily overideable with an engine management system, such as Greddy emanage, etc, the stock computer can be overriden to accept higher boost by rearranging vaccum lines, mainly capping off the tip sensor and other lines that allow the computer to read the boost. If anyone has any questions that I might not have covered, please feel free to let me know, I am just here to give a comparison and my opinion, no disrespect to either car.
