At this point, I am considering some stock location turbos. I just dont need a hoard of top end, but I want to keep quick spool...I am talking under 3500 RPMS. I recently saw a 20g setup with really quick spool on a topmount....it was pretty impressive.

So ya, in the end, I am in the same place lol...except now I need a tune.
Dude, let's go half on some of this turbo wrap http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ght=thermo+tec

Wanna wrap my header after I port it. Looking at the injen cross pipe also.

Heard that is one of the best setups that won't crack (common aftermarket suby header problem).

More money more money. But I am serious on splitting the turbo wrap that would be $50 each and we will have left overs for homies.

Ya I am down. I have a 2"x50' roll of it in the garage, with stainless ties and the 2 cans of the 2000 degree silicone spray. We can throw that in and go to town!

I almost bought the injen piece when I had my manifolds ported and coated. Now, I think I am going to get the Grimmspeed piece. Well made, and a lot cheaper. Same place I got the intake manifold spacers.

So the results from the head testing is good. Everything checks out. The shop owner was telling me I would need another $200+ to grind the valves and use new seals if I want to use forged pistons and newe rings. Do I really need to do all that if I am already resurfacing the heads? I felt like I was getting pulled into more money and don't know what I need to do.

If my heads are cleaned and resurfaced and check out, why can't I just use new pistons, rings, and re-done cyl walls and slap the heads on with new gaskets?

bump for I dunno much about these things.

And for u TurboSmurf06SSL, you may need something bigger than that :P I think the GT30 is a 52mm wheel, where the Green is a 49.

Looks like I am gonna get the JE Pistons coated and rings and Cossie Race Bearings for mah beast. Looks like the machine shop guy was full of it and my heads because they tested fine and got resurfaced, and will work just fine with the new pistons and rings. Thanks for all the help GST and Mioke!

Well picked up the heads from the machine shop right now. He quoted me $170-$200 for the job and when I got there to pick them up my bill was $247.

He said because he had to mark all of the valve top covers and mark each one so he could reassemble them right and remove 2 electronic sensors he charged me $50 extra bucks.

He had done Subaru heads before so he knew they have valve top covers (or whatever the correct term is) and removing 2 sensors (4 bolts) for $50 is crazy. Whatever the heads are clean and tested great!

think he stuck the extra cash to my bill because I didn't get the extra work done (grinding the valves and new seals) which he quoted me $160 for that work but when he called me and asked if I wanted it done (told him I needed a couple of days to decide) he told me $200+ for the same work that was $160 2 days prior. Sucks this is the only capable machine shop in the whole county so I am stuck.

He did quote me $100 to redo all 4 cylinders to prep and clean them for the new forged pistons that I am gonna get from good ol GST (they rock!).
