Uh oh - Wife made me a drink. I'm drinking it. Here comes the dumb

BTW - looking at the elevation profiles from this Motion Based ride earlier this week, the distance and total elevation looks similar to connector/fdlt. The first part will be about 6 miles of up, but you only go up about 1700 feet in that distance. To compare, stagecoach is about 900 ft in 2 miles. So twice the elevation in three times the distance. I think we can hack that

And then the back half of the ride is all downhill. We really need to plan ahead and stop at some decent rocks/obstacles on the way down. I'd like to get some pictures of you guys, and you guys get some of me, riding off the rocks, over stuff, etc. I'm in no hurry tomorrow and I don't think you guys really are either so we should have more than enough time to really get in a good ride

Cool, sounds good.

There will be at least two joining us and maybe two more:

Brandon & Whitney from Lawson Mech (and maybe one of Whitney's friends)

And then this guy Rick who works with my wife at ARCO bartending. He's been riding for 15 years and has ridden HITG before (hence the invite).

Whitney is another Larry but even better at climbing. The dude is a machine!

Anyway, I told everyone we wanted to start riding @ 9:00 from Soda Springs.

Oh, and for the record...I plan on climbing at my own pace. If I'm way behind don't worry about it...I'll get to the top at some point.

Man. Todays ride was ... pretty crazy. I did a lot of stuff I've never done before.
  1. Six mile climb.
  2. Riding at elevation - 8077 ft
  3. Cleaned almost all of the real technical stuff - only missed three.

I had a blast. I ended up taking 83 pictures that I just finished uploading to the internets.

Here's some pics (with a link to all of them, and ride data).

Distance: 16.51 (felt like 30) miles
Ride Time: 2:26
Avg Speed: 6.8mph (Lance was faster than me here for sure)
Total Ascent: 2461

I'll post a link to Motion Based later. The site is sucking right now and I can't get it loaded up from my GPS.

Me at the top:

8077 feet

All Pics.

I've decided to hold off riding with you guys until I get in better shape. Currently going to PT for my knee and I am starting a Cardiovascular & diet regiment to get me in better shape (& 40lbs lighter). No point in holding you guys up until I can keep up.

Glad you had a good ride today.

I'm glad you guys had a great day. I have snowshoed and hiked that area a lot. In picture 3, I've flown gliders on the hill behind Mike.

I notice a wee bit of blood on Matt's leg. It must have been a good ride.

I'm ready to be healed and riding again.

Great photo's Matt!!! Thanks for taking the time to put the day on film

The ride was pretty sick! I think you guys will really like the Downieville run I did last year.

I still can't believe I cleared all the creek crossings. One day I nail the climbs too. Brandon really came alive in the second half after we made that long *** climb to the top!

Great day guys!!!!

I ran over this 8" stick on the trail and it shot up my left leg, cutting it all to hell. In total, I got four cuts from it, one on the side of my knee that's almost four inches, one that is two inches, one that is one inch (both on my calf) and then a small cut. Also, the areas all around the cut are bruised and tender

Anyway..looks like my only day to ride next weekend is Sunday. I was thinking of riding the same loop we did last time - clementine;connector;fdlt;connector;confluence

Yeah?
