stirs, thank you for post. Its good to hear from people that aren't like closed minded jerks. I got this idea from a friend with an 05 STI running the same way, and he hasn't had any probloms. Yeah I get looks too. Cops pull up behind me all the time, probably thinking I don't have a muffler. But when they see the muffler that is hanging, but not being used, how are they going to know the difference. Plus the car runs good, I'm going to get an emap from PDX Tuning and run that through my ap, hopefully that will make the car run even better. Yeah I'm running an aftermarket BOV. I got the Greddy RS venting to atmosphere. I also have the HKS SSQV, I think I might put that on soon. WHy do you ask?

BOV usually make you afterfire like crazy.

Have you thought about maybe a cutout?

Actually BOV's hinder performance and will make you run
extremely rich. Also your tuner can't tune out the rich condition.
BOV's aren't needed until well after 20 psi. so your wasting your money.
The downside of releasing the air to atmosphere is that it has already
been metered by the mass air sensor, and when it blows off,the ECU
will be injecting the wrong amount of fuel into the cylinders.
This temporary rich condition isn't usually that harmful, but it can cause
bucking or hesitation on lift-throttle.If the condition is really bad,
it can eventually foul spark plugs and even clog the catalytic converter
as unburned fuel on the catalytic converter burns very hot,and too
much of it can melt the cat.
I personaly would be affraid to run on a extremely rich condition because
it will wash your cylinder walls with gasoline.

if you want a loud *** exhaust that won't attract visual attention do what I did: Straight pipe with no muffler/resonator/cat nothing and paint that shiet black! Driving normally cops pull up right next to me and dont do anything, but once it hits boost the thing becomes a SCREAMER! I only spent $200 on the whole steup (used helix DP/custom catback)
