Back fire from BOV?
Hi... i just had my hks BOV installed and was wondering if its normal to have back fire. i know im suppose to be running rich and stuff but the shifts throiugh each gear is still really smooth. just wondering if the backfire is bad. my current mods are hks up pipe dp and exhaust and k&n panel. i get it sometimes but not after every single shift.... thanks,...
oh yeah... i did some searching but i got kind of confused. just to explain it a little.... when i shift at like 3k.... u hear like a gun go off once in a while. not often. and this never happened before until i installed the BOV. alos if someone might know.... would the Accessport even out the gas/air mixture? thanks...

Any BoV that vents to atmosphere will give you the chance of backfiring due to the fact your venting out air the computer has already calculated fuel for. When your BoV vent it puts the car into a very rich state that contributes your backfiring issue. Only problem I can see from the backfire is maybe muffler damage.
I may be incorrect but isn't the correct term for this.. afterfire?
I've had this issue for the past 60k+ and no damage from what i can see.. i'll check the motor out though when I pull it.. (soon :-\).

ya taking out cats and running rich will make you AFTERfire... backfire is when the flame pops in ur intake and thats all bad. afterfire isnt bad though.. only for your bumper
