You should test drive the cars towards the top of your list.

Now come on Roody, make up your mind and buy your damn car already!

Got a ride in an Impreza WRX yesterday! It was awesome! Back seat was a little cramped, but other than that it seemed perfect.

And hopefully I'll get a ride in my friend's dad's Forester XT soon.

The longest "What Should I Buy" thread Ev4r!!!11!

If you don't choose a car right now, everyone in this thread will form a strike force, hunt you down, and lock you inside of a Yugo till you're 21.

Glad to see the positive input is still there.

If I had to choose right now, it would be whatever I can get a better deal on...the Forester XT or the Impreza WRX Wagon.

I have a WRX wagon and a Forester XT with the premium package. To be honest, I prefer the FXT more because it is much more comfortable and still has a turbo so its also fun to drive. And having a that extra .5litre helps gives some mroe torque down low.

1. Head down to your dealership quickly.
2. Look at the XT's and WRX's in the lot.
3. Choose the better deal. Test drive.
4. The End

I'm 15, and turn 16 in April...I will get my Junior Lisence in October. When I turn 16, my parents will hand down a 2004 Chevy Tahoe to me. The Tahoe is fairly beaten up and has a lot of miles (65,000+), so it's not like I will be getting a brand new car. My parents are giving it to me because my dad has decided that he wants my mom to be driving a Volvo and it would be less beneficial to sell it (or trade it in) the Tahoe rather than give it to me and keep it. I will be allowed to do whatever I want to the Tahoe, which includes selling it. In its current state, the Tahoe averages ~13.5 MPG. So before I continue, here's some things you should know about me: I am 100% against street racing, and my main interests are cars/trucks/ATVs. My dad is into fast cars and has had cars that include a Trans Am (1977) and a BMW 535 with aftermarket parts from BMW's M division.

So let's "cut to the chase" here. The Tahoe will be a lot of money for me to run and will also be impractical for me. I do not need (or want) what it has to offer me. I found this forum while looking at WRX's. I am really into them, and am wondering about if it would be a good car for me. They seem to have everything that I want/need...AWD, safety, good looks, decent gas mileage, and a huge aftermarket. I plan (2-3 years in the future) to do a few mods to this car. I will be AutoCrossing my car about once a month and will and driving it daily. I have no plans to drive fast on the roads! My dad will also drive this car once in a while. The Impreza WRX has everything and more that I'm looking for in a car. If I sell the Tahoe, I will be able to afford a used WRX. So, my question to you all is: Would an Impreza WRX be a good car for me?

THANKS FOR THE HELP. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

P.S. - PLEASE don't flame on me for being able to get a nice car at a young age. I know that even though I'm saying this, it's going to happen. Oh, and sorry for the very long post. Thanks again!

I'm 18 and ive had a 05 WRX and now i own a 05 legacy gt(with many mods) i think you should get a WRX, yes insurance will be high, it was high rates for me... but anyways if you drive stick very well then get one...if not learn to drive a FWD or RWD stick before hopping in the AWD WRX. i know a kid whos turning 16 soon also and he just got himself an 06 silver impreza STi.

LegacybeR, my uncle has a Legacy GT Wagon, and I love it. Nice car, especially in black!

Going over to the local Subaru dealer tonight, and if my dad can't go tonight, we'll be going tomorrow.

Of the list you posted, the Forester seems like it is the average what you want. Almost a truck, almost a wrx.

Hey there. I'm probably a bit late on this thread but I thought I'd throw in my two cents worth anyway. I'm from New Zealand and we're lucky enough to be flooded with Evo's and Sti's at incredibly cheap prices and insurance isn't compulsory. Also the legal age for driving is 15. The end result of this is that most teenagers are driving powerful japanese flying machines with the Evo and Sti being the weapons of choice. While the cars are getting faster and more powerful, unfortunately 15 year old brains aren't. Most days the news reports that some kids have killed themselves or some others because they can't handle thier car. Just last week a 15 year old lost control on a corner and drove into a garden wiping out some toddlers. I applaud you for your maturity in asking the question but have to say that you should get something a little less powerful, pick up some good habits and then get your WRX. Cheers

That's another thing...the Wranglers are not practical at all. No rear seat room, lousy mileage with off-road equipment, and no locking storage. Pass on the Jeep!

Narrowed it down to:
Forester
Impreza WRX Wagon
Toyota Tacoma
Chevy Colorado / GMC Canyon
Ford Ranger

Leaning towards a Subaru right now. If only it weren't for this stupid snow here in NY, I'd be getting a Subaru. How much snow can the Subaru's get through?
Roody, get a 98-01 Impreza 2.5 RS....they're reasonably fun cars. Plus,as you get a little more experience behind the wheel, you can always upgrade the car via modification or eventually full engine swap (JDM Version lV STi engine swap...yummmm). Personally, the GC Chassis (1998-2001) models are very attractive IMO. And the fact that it's a GC Chassis 2.5RS, you can have a choice of a 2 door Coupe or 4 door Sedan body style. Also the 2.5RS engine is pretty peppy for starters (165 HP; 165LB torque), and it comes with AWD and moonroof as standard (if you're into the sun loving thing).
