I'm actually considering the Wagon. That way, I can put on one of those "You just got beat by a Wagon" stickers. I've never seen the red in person. Looks interesting.

dude imi got my 2006 STi when i was 16. I am only 17 right now. Trust me you can get the car, but listen to what older more experienced racers tell you. If you don't i feel sorry for your car.

I'd go easy on the car. No hard launches, no sharp turns, nothing to harm it. It would get its share of punishment at AutoCross races though.

from what i hear turbo charged cars are little harder to autocross because you have to keep that turbo spooled up to keep the power. i am not sure if it applied to the STI but i hear it does with the 2.0 WRXs feel free to correct me if i am wrong

Maybe with a stock 02-05 WRX. But a mildly tuned 2.0L makes much better use of the stock turbo. I don't see any problem with using the 2.5L even in stock from.

Just go for it and stop worrying about it. 4 pages later, I think you should have your answer by now. Its up to you, not anyone else. Its obviously what you want, so just go for it .

my first car had 90hp and 80mph as a top speed...
2nd had 110hp, 3rd had 160hp
then my WRX...

it's nice to work your way up.

you enjoy the power a bit more when you know what your other options are. that and you get exp. in being on the road.

but no matter what your HP is, you can always use good brakes.

I would get the toyota tacoma at your age, so you can still haul your Quad. More fun will come as you get older.

I have this feeling deep inside of me that I'm going to end up either sticking with the Tahoe for a few more years or buying a pickup. Only time will tell.

We're supposed to get some good snow on Wednesday. If we don't have school, my and my friend (who just finished break-in on his WRX) are going to drive around...this will be a good judge for me since he's a good driver and knows what he's doing in the snow. If he can't handle it, I doubt I'd be able to handle it.

Imprezas are very easy to drive. Even the WRX is easy going for daily driving. I have yet to take mine out to the snow but I don't see it being any more difficult to drive around than a 6000lb Tahoe with locking 4WD. The WRX is very predictable even in loose traction situations.

True about the Tahoe. It's a monster. Heavy, tall, wide, and long. Not going to be easy for me to drive. The WRX Wagon is light(er), short(er), thinner, and more nimble. I would probably be safer driving a Subaru than a Tahoe.

How about the Forester? Isn't there a model that has the WRX engine?

hey man go for a wrx u wont be disappointed at all. I was 17 when i got my stage 2 wrx. The only thing is u have to realize the power that u will have. Dont be influenced by any friends or people around u who provoke you to race and do stupid **** and u will be fine. Oh before the wrx i had a qx4 and i mean i dont think anything wouldve happened if i started with the rex but still it does fell kinda good to upgrade from something.

Do not listen to anyone here thats going to put down your dreams. I'm 16 and I've had my 07 WRX for a few months now. I've been very fortunate and I count my blessings. I get my license when I'm 17(2 and half months away), so in the meantime I'm having fun getting used to the car and modifying it . Naturally, I wanted an STI, but I realized that I had to be a tad more practical in my desires. Ive raced motocross for years and all I know how to is perform to my full potential. I naturally took to driving quickly and I'm loving it. I taught myself how to drive stick quickly and its the only way to go for a performance vehicle such as the WRX. I'm definitely going to be taking it down to Raceway Park for some auto crossing in the future. The WRX is an amazing car that has plenty of potential. It is a tad expensive on insurance but the 4 Wheel Drive and Five Star Safety Ratings are a plus, not to mention is plenty cheaper than insuring an STI. I say definitely go for the WRX, you will be alot happier in the short and long run and its after market potential is endless.
