Need advice from the wise
Basically I put a deposit on a dog 6 months ago, to have a certain one by the 2nd litter, 6 went by and every week in between the person got shadier and shadier. Also a couple of her dogs got sick and died, from her being irresponsible. She then kept the style i had requested for herselfCombined with the fact she had no dog for me like she'd promised I saw the only thing to do was get the deposit back, plus I was very uncomfortable with her at this point. Well as you can guess she won't give me the money back, and I didn't have a receipt. Is there anything I can do? I mean why would I give her 400 bucks? Can't i prove i did and she gave me nothing. I don't want to make it a physical threatening issue and realistically it's not worth going to jail for 400 bucks. Any advice to get my money back, its quite a bit and I can't afford to loose it but at this rate.......

it would be your words against her if you don't have any evidence that shows you gave her money. do u have a signed paper that says she promised to give u a puppy? you'll have to collect all your paperworks whether or not it proves you gave her money, but as long as there was written agreement for the transaction. ^^^I agree as above. How about creating a paper work now. State deposit money that you gave that person + a deadline when you will recieve a puppy that you want. Then get the money back (claim) if there is no further progress within a specific time - have her/him signed. Basically, start all over again with a legal document. Better than no money back and no puppy compare to your second option - that person in hospital and you in jail. Wonder if that person will go for it though...

why the hell would you give a stranger $400 without something written and signed???
thats your first mistake.
ok if things aren't *****y with her now ask her for something in writing for a promise on the next litter. if she says no call the cops and have them show up that day and show her you mean business.
if the cops do nothing then take her to small claims court and try to find some other people that have baught dogs from her so you can claim that she does do that kind of business.

Ok thanks guys, I guess I'll try and formulate a plan. I know not getting a receipt at the begining was very a stupid mistake. She is basically trying to get me to take a dog now after all this that is not the color or eye color she promised so I can't say she isn't offering me anything. Sneaky *****. The reason I'm really pissed is she kept leading me on and each week I wrote her, and was always very concerned about getting what I had been promised as she was starting to seem more and more shady about it. But she continued to lead me on the whole damn time, shes a crook, and after talking to some very reputable people have found out that she has done much worse to other people. Maybe I will just call her every night @2am
and her deposit method changed, first I was 4th in line for what I wanted, but then she basically said she doesn't put a person to a dog so other people could theorhetically decide they wanted something else than what they orig requested (what i want for example) and since they payed before they will get it, her deposit methods basically don't work both ways and are illogical once you see all sides.

if you have the e-mails, then you are in good shape
but if you don't have any proof, you might be SOL

If she's offering a dog, ANY dog (as long as it was healthy), if I were you I would cut my losses and take what I could get.
Without a receipt or something similar in writing, she could totally shaft you, and there wouldn't be much you could do about it. :/
