Isn't that Japan, show me anything in any other land where this car dominated. like I said before I've seen it and each time its gotten rolled up. So some Guru who is a Skyline Historian please point it out. I'm not sayings it's a terrible car it's terribly over priced. I'm saying its coveted here and lastly its not a world class performance sports car. Oh yea its got lines like a toaster in stock form. "say no to drugs"

the main reason Nissan could not bring GTR over here is because they would eat up the competition alive w/ its price, performance and resale value! For the interests of our domestic car makers, it was wise not too allow them to come here.

Think about it, who would buy Camaro and Mutangs or even vettes back in the 90s if the GTRs were available at that time??

7 of Japan's fastest street cars met on the weekend of 5-7 November 1999 for an open challenge and the Veilside R34 ate the competition. This consisted of RX7, Supra, WRX, MX5, EVO and Aristo.

The truth is in the article.

You need to identify what you are comparing. Track cars are a lot different than "street" cars, besides, how can you take a tuner's car and generalize that victory to set precedence for the make of the vehicle?

Those are "tuned" cars by different tuner's, one tuner may be better than other thus the reason for the victory. I am not saying that performance relies soley upon the tuner, as a good platform such as the Corvette and Audi help to win their class brackets, but to make a generalization about seven different street cars is ridiculous in my opinion. Apples to Oranges.

Need to really specifiy what exactly we are comparing.

Back on topic. The skyline is a very cool looking car, but a lot of the desire relies upon the fact that 99% of people who talk about the Skyline have never ridden or driven in one. Let alone could very few own one.

That's my point ppl covet a car that they really don't know only what they heard

Three quick questions 1. have you ever owned one 2. if so why don't you have it now 3. was it stock or modified.

^^One little comment about skylines being ugly, and now 55 posts later still having to defend your comments, lol.

By the way, where does the "mitsu stealth" fit into the world wide racing scene?

Skylines seem to be doing pretty well (maybe only in Japan but they are still winning), how those stealths doing?

Actually if you took the time to read the whole quote you would see that I didn't say that, it was a quote straight from the reporter. Secondly, saying a car is of less comparision based on it's tuner is about as arbitary and misinformed as you can be. That's like saying veal sucks because some people don't know how to cook it. Third, I wasn't the one saying "say no to drugs". Fourth, the Skyline competes in Japan because it has been banned almost everywhere else from competition. Last, get out of denial. Just because you can't have one doesn't mean they suck.

I find it ironic that you say I don't know much about racing. Prove yourself, I'd be happy to PM you my credentials.

I never said it was a race car. I just said instead of being ripped off, I would buy a Supra or Stealth and make that fast and both look better

I find it ironic that you say I don't know much about racing. Prove yourself, I'd be happy to PM you my credentials.

I meant racing history lets not get off track. Just because you race that doesn't make you a history expert does it?

Now can someone point out where the Skylines won world class events. Leman Spa bathhurst or any 24hrs race for that matter other than Japan. So far no one has and thats my point Corvette, Viper , Porsche, Audi, and Mazada have won there classes several times. Not the Skyline probably the most coveted sportcar in the import world.
