But he'll be up there Friday if you guys head up.

And yes you're right. I am very blessed. Especially considering my family background. It just gets a little old when one member of the family doesn't have to do isht, go to isht, pay for isht, etc etc etc. But I just found out said member will be there. So I feel better.
This could very well be my last weekend to board, so I'm gonna try and get the most out of it.

Nice that the whip is being cracked in that direction as well.

Yeah... get those days in dude. Jordan is on his way up there right now. So he should clock like 8-10 more days before the year is out. Lucky bastard.

I'm hoping to get 2. LOL. Hell... all things considered, I'm glad I got as close to 20 as I did. I'd like to get back to doing over 25 a year next year. So we'll see. With 4 of us having season passes next year it should be good.

And with my i-club homie hopefully hooking me up next year I won't be riding on busted boots so my riding should be a little better. I think I still put it down pretty good this year though. Haaaa.

Yea this is the most days I've put in, in quite a while. I think I'd be at 16 days total. I'm feeling better about my riding so I'm comfortable going up more often.

D'oh! I'm planning to hit up N* this Fri w/ my homie & his co-workers/other friends. He's a Triple Whammy'er & I've got a comp I need to burn thru.

Then we're hoping to ride itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny Diamond Peak on Sat. We got a few 2-for-1s for there. Plus, it shouldn't be too crowded since it's not one of the MEGA resorts. It's got a pretty sick view of the lake though!

Not sure if I'll shred Sun!

I'll ping you for any upcoming trips to the Triple Whammies. Looks like most resorts will be closing on Easter wknd or the one after that. Hooray for late season pow!

Dayum! That "meager" $299 for the pass that Ray mentioned last week is so tempting esp. since it's a HUGE early-bird savings compared to the reg. $469. Too bad they don't offer a college pass like other spots. I wonder if they figure they don't need to be so competitive w/ their pricing since they're the only game in town along Hwy4. I highly doubt that's their reasoning since KW & Dodge are relatively close considering where us flatlanders begin our journeys to those beloved mtn playgrounds. I just wish they did better comparables.

I'll let y'all know when I plan to hit up Bear before they close to use my Mon-Fri comp, which I'll likely use on a Fri. If I make it a multi-day trip, then I guess it would make sense to get the pass, eh?

Anyway, have fun getting those days in. I know I'm looking fwd to adding a couple more to my piddly count of SEVEN.

yeah. I've sent them emails in the past in regards to their pricing. At $459 they're just WAY over priced. Hell, $62 for a day pass is ridiculous for that mountain. You can ride every lift and every run on the mountain and still have time for beers. I love my mountain but it's just crazy.

At $299 I think it's very reasonable... especially when you factor in the $62 daily rate. That's 5 days. Not hard to get 5 days in... Even at the reduced rate of $48 I think it is... that's 6 days.

I really think it should max out at $349 and the kick down price should be no $249 or even $199.

It's pretty crazy to think that you can get a pass to kwood or a triple/double wammy tahoe pass for the same or less than what bear charges. No way in hell I'd do it if I didn't have the set up that I have.

How was the pricing before the newest owners bought the mtn a few years back? Was it always on the higher side? I kinda understand having to be a bit steep for a while as they try to generate revenue for these upcoming improvements, but they really need to consider their size, terrain, amenties, etc. in comparison to other resorts. There is point where value is tough to see when so many other places offer a great bang-for-the-buck w/ those factors taken into account.

When talking about a super expensive daily ticket price, N* takes the cake at a whopping $88 ! ! ! That's two bucks more than Squaw & the same as Heavenly peak-season pricing (Don't get me started on the multiple pricing schedule they've adopted recently.) The Double Whammy (TripleWhammy this year only) was an awesome deal, but I've found them to be way too crowded. Too many people... not enough mtn. I'm glad their current offering of most passes excludes Saturdays during high season.

/rant

Yeah... I need some time on the mtn badly!

Anyone that was up riding Bear Valley on Sunday please take the time to write BV an email in regards to the death trap that they created on the back of the mountain. Worst grooming EVER.

If I remember correctly the price was at $48 a day when they took over and the only worth while improvement the new owners have made is the high speed on the back. The "new" terrain is not new. And they put up that little useless tent on the deck.

They have raised the price of daily tickets EVERY year since they took over.

The season passes have gone up but not all that drastic. They used to do $50 discounts for people that had a pass already. And they used to do youth passes. I think they were $199 for an unlimited college pass. I managed to get one when I was 23. They hooked me up.

It is really sad that resorts are doing everything they can to get every last dollar out of people. It's an easy $1000 for a family to spend a weekend snowboarding now. EASY. That's just sad. If you purchase gear you're talking a minimum of $800 to set up one person. The sport is going back to where it was in the mid 80's where it was a rich white people's sport.

Thanks to snowboarding and reasonable prices in the late 80's and 90's the ski industry exploded in snowboarding and skiing. Skiing has progressed and grown in popularity in the last 5 years like crazy... THANKS to the snowboarding industry and X games. So up yours all you self righteous two plankers.

The industry is suffering from a terrible economy and they have decided the best way to get their money is to get the most money out of the fewest people as possible instead of making it available to more and taking less from more.

Awesome deal on Squaw for this Sun... http://exined.org/skiing-for-schools

Squaw Valley USA- Sunday, April 10 - $25 lift tickets available the week prior at Porters Sports.

Purchase tickets in advance at Porters Sports locations (Truckee and Tahoe City) for the Skiing for Schools dates (not Community Benefit Dates). A limited supply of tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and will not be available at the resorts the day of the event. Check and cash are preferred form of payment at Porters. Tickets are not refundable. Thank you for your generous donation and for skiing for schools!

For the fundraisers they've had for Sugar Bowl, I'd leave a bit earlier so I could drive past the resort to grab my ticket @ the Truckee Porters the morning of the event. The one for Squaw, on the other hand, typically sells out by the end of the week.

Anyone heading up to North Tahoe in the next day or two? I'd gladly meet up w/ you to get in on this amazing deal! I'd even wake up early as you're passing thru to get to the slopes. I'm a few minutes off I-80 in Vallejo.

I'll b in the FastPass line @N* 2mrw. And I'm still trying to figure out a way to catch Squaw's $25 day on Sun or simply ride Flatstar again.

Hooray for late season pow!

I'll be heading up tonight. Riding Bear this weekend. Gotta get my last hurrah in.

Here's a video from last weekend. Split screen footage of myself (Contour) and OneManArmy's (Go Pro).
