Turned the news on just now and caught a story about another snowboarder that fell into a tree well and was stuck for 30mins. He had a helmet cam that caught the whole footage and it took him about 16mins to get to his cell phone which luckily at the same time his wife was calling him. Told her to call ski patrol or he's going to die. About 14mins later he was being dug out and rode the rest of the way done.

Gotta be very careful out there everyone.

From here on out it should be open though. When it gets warm like this they get it rolling and it usually stays open.
It cracks me up that they basically have a dedicated lift for the park and the damn thing is NEVER running. It used to be that you could roll off the lifts up there and go down and around that lift and ride the side of the park or the park. Now that's closed up too. So now you have to skate up the damn hill every time you want to get to the back of the mountain. Stupid.
The new owners of BV are making some nice changes (the quad), but they are also making some really stupid ones.
The move to use that lift as a dedicated park lift is smart but closing the round about way was stupid and not having it open is stupid. They do have the bus back there though. And it is better than it used to be.
The new lift is sick but there is still no high speed on the front.
The "new" terrain is NOT new terrain. And it's dangerous as hell because no one knows where the hell they're going. EVERY local I've talked to including me has had to lead someone out of there and run in to people that have been lost at the bottom.
The want to add a new gondola but the current mountain configuration would not handle it.
etc etc etc.

BV Season passes just went on sale. Any of you guys that ride there more than once a year I'd do it.
It's $299 between now and April 30th. If you buy it now you can ride the rest of the year and next year on it. So if you do even one weekend between now and the end of the season all you have to do is ride 2 more days next year and it's paid for.
I think BV charges a bit too much for it's season passes in general but this is a good deal. I mean damn near $500 for a mountain that small with ONE QUAD. Stupid.
But I know I'll have one, my brother, Justin (bluwrxwagon), and I think Jeff (IPOZESTU).
So that's 4 guys you'd have to ride with all year. My brother and I usually get around 25 days a year. So you'd have someone to ride with most weekends. And if you're lucky I'll give you a tour. But I'm getting stingy these days.
So heads up on that for all you guys that are interested.

Yeah... when it gets this warm you have to time it just right.
Usually only have like 3-4 hours of riding. Too early and it's death hard. Too late and it's death sticky.
Plus the snow needs to heat cycle a few times before it gets to that true spring corn phase. I'd say another 10 days and the spring corn will be in full effect.
During the spring I usually take it easy. Have a good breakfast. Then ride the middle of the day. Then grab a couple beers and wait for it to chill and ride the last hour or so of the day.

Hey, how is the snow packing up in the Sierras right now? Even in remote patches, is there anything that can be considered soft still? or is it all hardpacked at this point?
