to sierra, nope. if you have 4wd/awd with snow tires you'll make it in there prolly 4-5 hours or something. I wouldn't go if you were trying to go to alpine or squaw or any of the north lake resorts though. I went up last weekend in the same conditions, highway 50 was on level 2 chain control like it is now, and i-80 was closed. I left at 6:30, got to homewood at 12:30. I took highway 50 and remember getting to around sierra fairly quickly. I would go if your car is prepared

having said that, i would leave SJ at 4:30ish

I'll be hitting up Bear Valley tomorrow with my gf. I believe there is chain control on 4, but no worries there. Got chains, and got it down to a 5min install Gotta love free tickets too

One of the nice things about Sierra is that it is on this side of the pass coming from the bay. No worries about not getting there ever... pretty much everywhere else in Tahoe you have to get over a pass, and thats what they close is the passes 99% of the time.. unless there is a accident or something.

(well i guess sugar bowl, and like the little 2 chair resort across the street from sugar bowl.)

Dodge Ridge just got 45 inches in the last 24 hours. That is insane! Part of me really wants to be there, but part of me knows that will be one hell of a day of just getting stuck an then wading through chest/head deep powder back to somewhere where I can strap back in.

I was thinking the same thing. Bear says 29" but I know it's more than that. And they got 22" the day before. Just a tad bit too deep. Get a couple heat cycles on it and it should be money.
