We shake our heads in disappointment, but this guy IS part of our local club. Let's try to be a little decent about this.
It wasn't anyone from the meet last night. Everyone was accounted for and got home safely (we [well, my girlfriend] had most of the people call in). But I do agree that we have to keep the Wed. night meet in check.

Anyways... sad to hear the news. Let's all keep it safe out there. And yeah... like they always said in pre-school: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

Cheers!

I was sober last night. I'm pretty sure most of the drivers were all sober. We didn't want to get jacked by the law.

Or crash your beautiful car and possibly hurt someone, right Charlie?
Jeez, c'mon ppl, there ARE reasons for the laws. It's not just about "not getting jacked by the law" is it?

I don't think anyone said anything bad, and I agree 100% with what I think to be what Froride1 is saying. Unplugging the wrong cable is a mistake. Knocking on the wrong door is a mistake. Continuing to run from the police and/or driving 3x the speed limit in a residential area is a conscious decision and you can bet it's re-evaluated about every 30 seconds as the person asks themselves "WTF am I doing." I don't believe it's saying anything bad to say that, and to say that it's just a mistake is a very typical American irresponsible view. Like, shooting bullets into the sky - it was an accident when one comes down and nails someone right? Wrong.

I also don't believe someone would leave a light-hearted happy group of people that get along well together and do such a thing. This is all of course just my opinion. For me, I never get plastered when it's my responsibility to drive. I really like driving, and I don't want to take that away from myself. Besides - my mother was killed when I was 7 by someone in this exact situation.

Trashed is an overstatement. We're adults and capable of enjoying a beer(s) with dinner and not getting out of control. Is combining drinking (of any amount) and car club events a good idea? No ... not remotely.

well, not sure what I can add here, my heart goes out to the family. I really hope it was subaru's fault and not that of the drivers choice. =(

How would it be Subarus fault

Driver goes 110 on wet, city streets (marked 35mph zone), hits pole, dies.

Subaru is at fault how?

hmm, I suppose that's a possibility, but the simple fact that it happened just after he started running from the police would probably absolve Subaru of any responsibility.

i gotta agree with sonic: even if there was a "fault ", the car would have to be pushed to a certain point to realize said fault. AND, it would have to be a concious efort to push your car to 3x the speed limit. if you make that effort, and lose control making said effort, the only fault would be between the steering wheel and the driver's seat. the driver would be at fault. my heart does go out to the family and friends of said person ( especially if i knew him ) but he brought it upon himself. and what i feel really sorry about is the fact we, as a community, lost another WRB suby........
