The Official Bay Area Beer Thread
^LOL I hate it when that happens.
So I had some St. Pete's sorghum beer the other night, actually not bad. Very light and refreshing. I wouldn't name it as a favorite, but it was something new.

That was me on the 30th
I puked and rallied though! And broke my iPhone.
In other news, I found 21A Brew Free or Die at a BevMo in the OC. WTFM8? Took a sixer of that (as is evident from the picture on the 30th) and dead guy ale as my day time drinks to vegas.

Ingredients for the next brew have been purchased
7 lbs Pale Liquid Extract
12.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L
2.0 oz Black (Patent) Malt
35 gm Amarillo Gold [8.60 %] (60 min)
14 gm Saaz [3.90 %] (2 min)
0.75 oz Orange Peel, Sweet (Boil 10.0 min)
1 oz Ginger Root (Boil 10.0 min)
10 gm Cinnamon Stick (Boil 10.0 min)
1 lbs California Honey
Should be around 5.5% - 6% ABV and mighty tasty!
Jacob, thanks again for all the bottles, they are soaking right now, all of the labels are off but there is still some residual glue on them. I made a starter for the yeast I harvested and it kicked off pretty damn quickly. This second generation of the Pacman yeast should be a beast, the third and/or fourth generations should be insane though!

^ooooohhh that sounds pretty good. Ready in time for the holidays?
BTW I've got a TON of bottles, I was brewing with some friends for a little bit. I'd be willing to donate them to a homebrewer here in exchange for a bottle or two of the results.

Just the standard 22oz bombers? I think I'm set on those, but if you want to try this holiday beer just give me a replacement bottle. It should be ready by Christmas.

Just a little bump in honor of the holiday ales coming out right about now. I grabbed a six pack of Anchor's Merry Christmas Happy New Year Ale, Rogue's Santa's Secret Stash and Anderson Valley's Winter Solstice a few days ago. Yum yum goodness. I always look forward to and savor the Anchor in particular, although it's a bit weird with it's spices.
Bottling my "California Pale" today so it will be perfect for it.
Oh - cases of Sierra Nevada "Anniversary" and "Celebration" for around $23 at Costco!!! That's 24 bottles.

So I had a coworker asking me last night how long it takes from putting everything together to when you can drink a beer. I said "well, there are some that can be ready in 3 to 4 weeks, most a month and a half to two months, but barleywines can age a year or longer." After I say barleywines he goes "no, I meant actual beers."

The "holiday cheer" beer tastes ****ing awesome! Neither the orange peel, cinnamon, or ginger take front stage in flavor right now, they all blend together amazingly.
