Lack of running and stopping the pass means another year of getting outscored by double digits each game.

Their addition to passing offense, coaching stability and Carr having a year under the belt is enough for them to win 3 more games.
They should be able to win against Browns, Bears, Jets, Titans. 2 in division isn't an impossible task.
Also dumping off McFadden should instantly make your running game better on paper
I will agree with you that their secondary is suspect but I think the offense more than makes up for it with Carr under center.

Takeaways from the game:
1. The Hayne Plane has taken off!
He'll get a job as a kick/punt returner and a backup RB (got Hyde/Bush in there)
2. I also see Purcell winning a job at DT/NT. Dude lit it up yesterday.
3. LBs suck, Lemonier can't hold an edge, no one can cover.
4. No pass rush
5. DBs gonna get looked at some more. Some made ok plays, others just get burnt, but I'm excited to look at some of the guys.
6. Blaine Gabbert looked wayyy better than last year.
7. Defense got torched... as some expected, got dominated when ran against and got lit up as 1st/2nd string Texan QBs lit it up.
8. O-line better figure it out, tons of missed blocking assignments, but that was 2nd/3rd stringer. Thompson got crushed and really looked like a rookie out there.

49ers trade TE Asante Cleveland, source says. SF receives OL Jordan Devey from Patriots, reports @AdamSchefter.
I don't get this... Devey has, what looks to me, some really bad grades:

Devey -19.2 on PFF in 2014 (306 snaps RG/LG). -11.4 pass block (1 sack, 3 hits, 9 hurries), -5.7 run block, 5 flags

Well we knew that when we signed him. We have plenty of depth there, I'm sure he'll come back in solid form. This will be an interesting opportunity to see how Patton/Ellington do. I have high hopes for both those guys

we don't need anymore tight ends, maybe someone sees something in him. I'm sure he'll just be practice squad maybe he can be half decent depth for our depleted line
I'm sure the expectation is he will work hard to be clean and not fail again. Not that he WILL fail again.
EDIT: I'm wrong... Baalke just released a statement saying he knew he was going to get suspended. I'm guessing he thought it would be shorter. Same misjudgment with Aldon's suspension last year.
Winning with Class Y'all!!

I like Ellington & Patton and would like to see them really step up at WR, but I think the person that this may benefit the most is DeAndrew White. That guy has been getting rave reviews since he started training camp.
DeAndre Smelter is the other WR I am curious to see how he looks this year (hopefully he earns playing time).

#49ers TE Derek Carrier was traded to #Redskins for a 5th round pick.
A 5th Round Draft Pick for a player that was an Undrafted Free Agent and most likely wasn't going to get any type of significant playing time with the 49ers is pretty decent.
