yea, i agree. holding the phone does the same as bluetooth. your concentration level is the same.

I was talking to a Monterey fire fighter who said their station was given the option of being exempt from the law, but they chose not to be exempt. I'm sure the officers chose to be exempt, even though with all they have to do in the squad car, they really should have as many free hands as possible.

I do both, if I have my headset on me or if I remember to turn on my blue tooth to pair with my deck, then I'll go hands free, otherwise, I'll hold the phone, turn on speaker phone and just hold it below my window sill if I see a cop near by.

cops are exempt from the hands free phone law. why? because they already operate computers, radios, and numerous other devices whiles driving... because, oh yeah, they are trained to do so...

cops don't get speeding tickets while rushing to an accident, crime scene or whilst in pursuit either despite technically going faster than the speed limit.

i just ignore my calls until i reach a long stop light or reach my destination.

no call is worth endangering my life, or the life of others.

MEANING NO HANDS TO TALK ON PHONE.

just a heads up. (iphone users)
speakerphone is o.k. as long as you are not holding the phone. i seldom talk on the phone while driving. (not a principled thing, i'm just not that popular ) but when i do, it's speakerphone on my lap.
