sitting outside of ATT Park, I was stuck in traffic and browsing through songs on my iPod Touch when a bike cop comes up on the driver's side and tells me that electronic devices are illegal and that's why i'm speeding. i looked at him and said...
"are you gonna ticket me for zero miles per hour officer? "
he rode away without saying a word

my wife just got a ticket for not using her bluetooth (and she had it with her), just out of habit she picked up the phone to call me and tell me she was on her way to pick up our son (like she does everyday), and accidently forgot to turn it on.
the so called $25 ticket, after fees and what not was $93
Shame on her BUT WTF
Ahh another hard earned dollar or 93 of them for our limp d*ck state to add to our deficit

Should have just banned talking on the phone all together while driving. There is nothing that important that it can't wait till you either safely pull over to talk, or wait until you arrive at your destination.
I remember life before cell phones, it wasn't that hard to wait until you got to your destination to ramble about some nonsensical crap.

LOL!
I think the only people that say the law is pointless or bull**** are the people who dont have to deal with it on a day to day basis of people doing 25 car length gaps cuz they are to busy talking about worthless bull**** to relize what they are doing behind the wheel

I didn't vote because you didnt leave a option for not using it at all. I am used to my old state rules so i dont use the phone at all if i am driving. If i get a call when i am in car by myself it goes to voicemail but if my husband is in the car i hand him my phone.

You'll see me texting while driving...which is not illegal under the hands free law. If the driving become erratic because of texting & law enforcement sees it, that's probably cause for you to get cited.
^^^ See this is the problem, people that cannot comprehend that you should be focusing on driving whilst piloting your vehicle down the road. Not because you think it's not illegal, because of things like common sense... It's people like this that have inspired me to equip every vehicle with at least one air horn, and use them often. My life is worth more than some idiot's text message. I swear if it gets much worse I will have to carry a baseball bat on my bike. Retards drifting into my lane space, eyes on their phone... WHO'S DRIVIN?? Maybe commuting on a bike has brought it to my attention just how much you need to focus on the road 100% of the time. Now just got to bring this to other peoples' attention...

I do most of my calling while in the car. I use my blue tooth or speaker phone it if my blue tooth battery dies. I try my best to not text while driving but have done it.
There are a lot of people that I see that are still being just as stupid while holding their phone. F'en left lane cruisers move out of the way... I hate it when people are oblivious to the other cars around them in general. Yesterday on my way home I was cut off on three seperate ocasion all by people holding their phones and talking. They just merge over and don't even see that my car was already in the space they wanted. I had to slam on my brakes or change lanes so I would not be hit. I see it happen a lot on the freeways, but I also drive a lot more then the average person.
As for the whole safety aspect of it and less accidents etc. I think it has reduced the number based on the number of accidents I see on the roads. But like someone above said, make the driving test harder. I think that alone would greatly reduce the number of accidents. I also think that they need to change the law that says something about, if you are over 18 you do not have to take the 6 hours of behind the wheel training with the instructor. I think everyone should have to do that. They teach you the rules of the road and make you follow them while in the training car. In general I think people need to be more aware of what is around them and cosiderate of other. Stop cutting people off cause you are to lazy to go one block down and make a U turn. Stop left lane cruising down the freeway impeeding the flow of traffic.
Ohh while we are on rants about drivers. Big rigs with loads of gravel need to cover their ish up. I am tired of my car being pelted with gravel and being chipped to hell cause of them.

i use my Latte Mocha Blue tooth while i drive and talk on the phone. The time i step out of my car bluetooth stays in my car and i take my phone with me. Takes me like 5 seconds to disconnect it from the phone and 4 seconds to connect to it. EASY.
I honestly think driving has gotten worse since the law went into effect. I see more people pinballing in their lanes with their cell phones in their hands held up to their mouths. I have also noticed a ton more people texting. Yeah, that's better.
