txting is just something we as drivers have to take into our own hands

 

i know within a week when the law came out i saw at least 5 cops on there cell phones driving... wtf is that??

I myself put my phone on speaker and kinda hide it... i have to put it on speaker anyways cuz the other option is broken and doesn't work haha

 

cops are exempt from the law while on duty. Some places are buying cops bluetooths to be a good example. I still haven't bought one, i talk on the phone every now and then, but I think I'm more aware what I'm doing cause I'm looking for cops as well. haha.

 

this is not about cops or txting. it is about those that talk on the phone while speeding or driving very slow or changing lanes or doing the stupid things when they're not paying attention. it is pretty scary and it drives me nuts. i wish i can call 911 and tell them about those idiots. if any of you out there doing it, please don't. it is very dangerous.

yes we may have loud exhausts or tinted windows, but how is that endangering others on the road.

 

True. Stupidity is the cause of accidents, not speeding. I'd much rather someone focused on driving go 120mph rather than some moron go 45mph in the slow lane while talking on the phone. Speed doesn't skill, stupid does.

word. my mom just got her tooth blued (totally not a tech person) and she got a phone call and started talking all loud as we sat down for breakfast at a restaurant. My dad and i were about to get up and walk out as if we didnt know her lol mainly because her hair was covering the ear thing, it really did look like she was crazy lollll

it didnt stop me from holding and shaking my head in my hands knowing that people were looking over, so they would know at least i knew she was being inconsiderate

well first of all they speed to catch others dont they? and they use their cell phone to catch others, its not like they are having phone sex or calling their wifey to see whats for dinner, they are doing their job. They arent out there to set examples, thats what the D.A.R.E. cops that hurt their back and are on light duty are for haha

Ok for one my wife works for the police department.

Police officers use the phones to communicate with each other cuz people have police scanners now. so they use the radio less.

I imagine it is hard if not impopssible to listen to a cell phone conversation.

Hwoever police officers are not talking about how much beer they drank last night or how many chicks they hooked up with the weekend before or what color drapes thier wife should buy.

Especially with the state budegt being like it is many PD have cracked down on extraciricular cell phoen useage and actually look at the bills to see if it was business or pleasure they were being used for.

with that out of they way...

Its not about having a hand free if you are in an automatic.

For those who have actually used blue tooth, dont you think you are able to concentrate on the road more while using it.

They want hands free that way people are not so into thier conversations.

i have a mt and i still use both hands and hold the phone on my shoulder. i have been doing it for years no prob. but when the blue tooth is in i feel less into the conversation and can pay attnetion more cuz i am not holding my phone.

its just a psychy thing. they believe phone conversation are less personal if you are not holding the phone and therefore you are not as involved in the conversation. they did lots of studies on it and have placed it in other states well before cali and it shows that statistically accidents went down enough to make it a law in other states.

and for the record just incase anyone didnt know. speakerphone on yoru phone is not considered hands free. yes it is a good way to trick the cops cuz it is not in your hand on yoru ear but you are still holding the phone and police and chp will give you a ticket for that just as well as txting. hands free means HANDS FREE! MEANING NO HANDS TO TALK ON PHONE.

man this is bs.. when i broke my right arm and i was fully cast up to my shoulder i was still able to drive a manual and talk on the phone with no problem without bluetooth!

i think if the law is trying to prevent accident maybe they should make the driver test harder so not everyone will pass instead!

Should have just banned talking on the phone all together while driving. There is nothing that important that it can't wait till you either safely pull over to talk, or wait until you arrive at your destination.

I remember life before cell phones, it wasn't that hard to wait until you got to your destination to ramble about some nonsensical crap.
