JonP (and I guess everyone else thats saying its stupid to be pulled over for a big wing ec. etc. etc.) they arent pulling you over BECAUSE you have a big wing. They see that as a sign that you might have illegal engine mods and use it to street race. The problem however, is that the police and chp, who are on the road more than anyone else, dont know what cars come looking like when stock, and therefore waste a lot of peoples time. I think people who are pissed off about kids with mellon shooter exhausts, and driving like idiots while racing on the streets, will be happy with the outcome. The problem being that us with modded cars (or just fast stock cars) who just want a fun car to drive safely, are going to be inconvienced

It's absolutely comical. I got pulled over on my bike with a pair of harleys in front of me. Then as the cop gets out of his car and is coming up to me another pack of them come by. I get a ticket for excess noise. An alba header(that you can't see very well unless you know what you're looking for) and a two brother's slip on. I was nowhere near as loud as these hogs, but I got the ticket. I started whining and he said I look like a racer. BS. 99% of the squids are out in their shorts and T-shirt, just because I care about myself and had on erbo suit with pucks, gloves and boots I'm a racer? I've noted that most of the guys in the full gear are among the safest riders out there. It's the squids out in their shorts and burkenstocks that are passing cars on the inside with the nose off the ground scarying the crap out of people, or the hog riders that generally break every single traffic law known to man.
If they are going to stereotype they at least need to get their crap straight.
When I got my ticket this last week there was an S55 behind me gaining on me fast, guess who got pulled over? Not the S55. So it's not driving while asian(because the S55 driver was), I'm another case of driving while mid 30s fat white guy.....in a non american car. I had a similar thing in my accord. Yeah I didn't have any cats, was a tad loud, and was pushing a little under the hood(hair over 300whp out of an S/Cd 3.0L), I had some tard in a loud as hell mustang messing with me. I saw a cop coming up and watched him flip a u-turn thinking "Ha Justice" and the cop gets behind me and kicks the lights on. WTF?
Yeah they have stereotypes, but they don't make any sense, and I guess nor do they have to.
Hurray, it's Ian!!

edgar,

Ahh I guess my mod day is over......looks like I'm going to be a loser of this situation. Seriously, many cops are american-masculine type of men. It is not uncommon to see them owning american muscle cars, loud trucks, loud Harleys, and so on. May be that is why such vehicles are not subjected to these annoying laws that our dear Californian politicians come up with.
Although I don't like what I'm seeing here, I must make myself clear that "I don't hate cops." I do appreciate their help since they are the one who put themselves out there and facing all those dangers that we are seeing in the bay area recently....

its these other brown nosed jerkoffs that put on the badge and get a kick out of being jerks for a full 8+hrs that i just wish would (refer to comment previous

/\ hahaha! yea, I remember that! it was nuts, like 20 cops came out of nowhere! I pulled in and parked right next to one of the undercovers before the takedown, and I blasted my Perrin exhaust in his ear.
but after they took the dude down, he stayed and talked with us about our cars, and was cool. He liked the subys.

All this stuff should just drive the point home that NONE of this is about people's safety. It is simply and only a game designed to produce revenue. I look at these CHP folks as guys that have no other marketable skills, so they sign up for the Revenue Enhancement Patrol force and get trained to be a better bully. Most cops that have pulled me over seem to get a real kick out of the power trip. I am always quiet and courteous (yessir nosir) and always turn off my car, put my keys on my dash in plain view, down the windows and put both hands on top the wheel. In every case this feeds their power trip and makes them more comfortable and thus more likely to say something stupid. Had 3 gloat about the speed traps they got me in so far, which got my cases easily dismissed.
When I was a kid, I thoroughly enjoyed spotting cars from as far away as possible and rattling off the make, model and trim - often what engine should be under the hood, etc. It's downright pitiful that cops know nothing about their business but are still allowed to cause people gross amounts of inconvenience and money loss due to their ignorance. If a 5 yr old can spot stock or modified cars, it seems like with enough patience persistence and training that your average CHP officer could too. I have met ONE chp who wasn't an ignorant arrogant tool. One. My uncle who is a sargeant in LA agrees. But, in the end - these guys are on the front lines gathering cash to fund those $75k and up police cruisers and BMW motorycles. Incidentally, I have met a few nice, and courteous Police Officers so I dunno what the deal is.
