if you see prices rising it probably has more to do with transportation costs (gas) and if you think they are high now, try paying someone minimum wage to pick those crops. (farm labor is the only job exempt from minimum wage)
i would bet that the people slaughtering / packing meat aren't exactly getting paid all that well either due to their legal status.

and btw, illegal immigrants paid an estimated $11.2 billion in taxes last year.
b of a + ge + exxon + chevron + a bunch of other multi-million dollar corps paid $0.

It's not exclusive to agriculture. It's a plague on the construction industry as well. A company will piece stuff out to a guy, he shows up with 10 illegals and bangs the job out for less than an honest company can do it for. They usually do a hack job and **** up everyone elses work while they are there.

But at what cost to the citizenry?

BTW, I know disabled combat vets that have been passed over for financial aid, have been turned away from full classrooms at CSUS, while illegals get a free ride.

And I will gladly pay the real price of any produce item if it means illegals are not doing the picking.

That'll be the day... But who will mow your lawn, who will cook your food at restaurants, who will wash and dry your cars, who will do all the hard labor for less than minimum wage? Oh the illegals.... You don't see 1 illegal working and 5 standing around him like our hard working tax paying workers.. Lol... I give it up to them... Fruit picking in a 3 digit weather is some hard *** work...

It would be Americans, if there weren't a minimum wage or welfare, and if there was a real border that didn't create a problem with illegals being here in such large numbers in the first place.

"We" don't. Read the book to see why it's happening anyhow. Do you think Germans actually want to bail out P.I.G.S.? Yet, Germany is doing so.

It used to be the case that Americans=America. Now, it's the Federal Government=America, and it's paralleled all across the developed world.

I know of many immigrants who came here, did their dues legally, worked their asses off... and are pissed off about everything with immigration at the moment because everyone else are getting handouts and getting in so easily.

I am not saying that illegals are not hard workers. Not at all. I am not calling them lazy.

I am saying they broke the law, the gov does not do anything bad to them instead is rewarding them.
