actually Paul I just broke up with a customer on last Monday (only had to do it a few times) and SHE WAS PISSED.

Questions were flying:
What do you mean you dont want my money? I can't believe you are refussing my business. I have never had a mechanic do this to me. Who tells a customer there business is no longer wanted?

Response:
Sorry we just aren't the best shop for you and I'm not worried about the money....have a nice day.

Her Response:
I want an apology...

I said I'm good I dont need an apology, she says not for her to apologize but for me to do it to her. I explained its not happening. I proceeded to tell her that when you miss 3 appointments that I gave her 2 chances to many.....blah blah

at the end, she is out of the LIC database...buh bye.

I bend over backwards for customers, and 99.9% of 'em really appreciate it.
That last .1% are the customers that bounce from shop to shop, looking for the "homie hook up", people that do not respect the shop/client relationship.

The new customers that I flat out refuse to work with are the ones that offer praise my virtues all over the internet IF I give them a steeeeeep discount.

"Duuuuuude, I'll start a + 11tybillion dbtuned thread if you hook it up".

How much for new brake pads for just my left front wheel? I don;t need the other pads because I took off the wear indicators, so they are good for another couple thousand miles... So, one wheel's brake pads for the STi brembos, maybe a half flush if you can throw that in for free.

Whats the price for that? It's probably too high!!!!

I loves you'z guyz/.

I have never once asked anyone EVER to write sh*t about this shop (good or bad). For whatever reason most don't....I dont lose sleep over it nor do i actually care, I'm here to do my job and do it to the best of my ability day in and day out...somedays I'm off and other days I kick butt, and yes I have and probably still will make mistakes (shoot me I'm human).

I'd be the last shop to ask for the "hommie hookup"...save it, as this guy (ME) don't care b/c obvisouly that person doesn't care about this business staying in business.

*happy customers will always spread the good word!

Actually, on a serious note, my dad is a General contractor and owns a painting company... You'd be AMAZED at the kind of low ball offers some people come up with... My dad's company wont do cheap jobs, no way, no how... We pride ourselves with doing top notch work just like you guys do... Lets say we quote a house for $3000, we'll get low balled for $1500 because the Mexican dude with no work license says he can do it for 1k worth of spray paint and labor... Why do people even go to professionals if they want rookies that will basically get the job done, but not very well, nor do they guarantee their work for x-amount of time, nor are they getting an expert with 30+ years of experience doing that job.

There are 2 types of ethnic groups that are the WORST, but I won't mention which, but I think some of you guys know what I'm talking about.

If you have to ask for a "Hommie hook up" your obviously not a hommie of that shop anyway so what would make you think you deserve one?

It's truly amazing what people will argue over. It's usually dollars and not hundreds. I've had customers say some truly awful things (one went so far as to tell me he'd be praying I died) to me over a few Washingtons.
