God only knows what would have happened had I brought in a piñata for the kids. I was thinking about doing that, but it just got lost in the cracks...
I'm hoping I don't get a bill from the winery for all the missing glasses...at $5/ea. it might add up...

BTW, there are too many cheap people like Stupidchicken who would sneak into an event at the track to bother even trying something like that. He wouldn't consider the overall cost of renting a venue like that (~$15,000+) or the insurance or anything else. He'd tell everyone the event was free as long as you don't race your car on the track.
The complaints about a track-day meet:
1. Too expensive to be able to afford to buy a ticket.
2. Not a family-friendly atmosphere with entertainment for the kids.
3. No grassy area to sit in and erect tents and shade covers while sitting by your trailer in the car show.
4. Too far to drive.
5. Did I mention the tickets would be too expensive?
6. Reserving the track nearly a year in advance when less than half the attendees pre-purchase tickets.
7. Did I mention TOO cheap to buy a ticket, thinking everything should come for free?
8. Too loud - all those cars driving on the track at WOT, way too much for such sensitive ears. :P
9. Let's see - did I mention TOO FAR to drive?
10. Oh, and one final reason - the a$$holes who would invariably want to demonstrate their speed in the parking lot, the paddocks and other inappropriate places for speeding.

They work for the winery, not YOU. And when they try to tell you, nicely, that the wine glasses are property of the winery and you go into the men's bathroom to put them in your pants to steal them, that makes YOU the *******. We all know that bulge in your pocket is a wineglass, because only in your dreams is your dick that big.

No way they'll charge for that... its the risk they take. Like bars and busted pint glasses. They pay about 60cents a piece. But still. Wtf... Damn thieves. Did you guys seriously witness some of these?

IF... IFFFF you don't have an off track days are still very expensive. Everyone forgets about the cost of replacing stuff on the car. I'd budget $500 at least for a track day... A... Singular...
But yeah... fun. But I'll tell you now. I probably won't go. I can't afford an $800-1200 weekend. Gas. I run DBA's. Pads. And I'll need new tires when all is said and done I'm sure. Plus the event, food, raffle.
Track day will NEVER work as an annual BAM meet. Unfortunately.
Besides... the hella flush guys would all cry when your stock car beats them on the track or they aren't allowed on the track for failing safety inspection... or their lips fall off or they loose a tire on turn 9. Or they fold a fender. Or they understeer their way into the tires. Etc etc.
I think for a different purpose it's a great idea. For BAM/Hammy... it's just not. Suppose to be a family, friends, cars bbq.

Just have pads, rotors, fluid with you because you will DESTROY the set that's on your car. And be ready to buy new tires.

But yea, hammy/bam is supposed to be about hanging out and talking and bbq and cars. Not about the racing.
Boo!

I'd say they may have some willingness to accept loss, since it distributes their logo (assuming printed glasses), but the flip side is, what's the chances someone stealing stemware, is going to drive any future sales for them.
This is just generally sad to hear, and frankly, inexcusable on the same level as stealing cookies. I wish I could view it as people taking more because they're poor. But that's bull... they're taking more because they can. They don't respect everyone else. And they probably don't hang around with people who respect them. Maybe some day, they'll change their ways.
Meanwhile, +1, kick 'em in the junk.
I wanted to add a note about complaints vs feedback.
Feedback is a useful and important thing. If you don't say "hey, you may not have noticed, but this was an area that I felt could've been improved", people may not know. Even if one person says it, you may not know if it was a concern shared amongst enough people, that it really was an issue.
Complaints are different. "Oh, it was too far, too expensive, too ... " with no suggestion for how to improve it, or statement of compromise, makes it relatively useless.
This isn't my feedback thread, nor my event, so it's not my place to tell people what feedback is desired, etc., but as someone who has experience with such things, I'd suggest stating what was wrong, how it could be improved, and how it can be implemented. If it's going to cost more time/money/etc., say how you'd be willing to offset that; if you can personally volunteer to help, and either the event wont suffer if you flake, great!
Partial hypothetical example: "I thought there should be a banner outside saying 'Welcome i-Clubbers'. I know a friend at a print shop, I can have him make one at cost, and I'll pay for half of it." If enough other people agree it's worth part of their ticket price, great. Otherwise, if someone else is willing to sponsor the other half of the cost, great.

WORD! Thank you for some quality input.
Oh... the 60 cents was just a reference to cheap. And you'd be surprised how cheap stemware is when purchased in bulk... even printed. Even at 100 units you can get printed pint glasses for about $1.50 a piece. At 1000 units you're talking a dollar or less for a pint glass. I'm sure they're paying less than $2 a piece for those wine glasses and I wouldn't be surprised if it's 60-90 cents a piece. But that's besides the point.
You're totally right about your comments.
You're right on all accounts that I read.
I just don't see them coming after Greg for lost glasses. That was my point. They had their own people on staff at the event.
But that's all besides the point as well. Pretty damn ridiculous that people felt like it was 1. necessary to steal the glasses, 2. funny/cool to steal the glasses, 3. the time/place to do so. But every year we have people stealing food, clothing, glasses, breaking stuff... etc.
Almost every year I've stayed late to clean... even AFTER the people running it have left. I was at the park in Navato about 2 hours after the staff running it left picking stuff up. Same in Hammy. People just blast out of there with no thoughts of them screwing it up for other people. People aren't gonna want us coming back next year of they're loosing glasses and having people tear **** up. Should read about the midnight mass. Those guys have to move hotels/locations every year because so much crap gets tore up. Terrible reputation.
