quick question on wheel upgrade
I was wondering if anyone could offer their opinions on the factory-installed 17 inch 5-spoke aluminum wheel upgrade for the WRX I am thinking about. I am planning to get the WRX, which will be used occasionally for long highway trips, but also occasionally for short city (New York) trips. So bumps, potholes, etc. are a factor.
From a road performance and wear & tear standpoint, is it worth getting the upgrade for $1350 extra?
I'm not really interested in aftermarket modifications. Just wanted to find out if this factory upgrade was worth getting.
Thanks very much for any help.

are you talking about the bbs rims? if you can get them for $1350, i would say definetly do it. wheels and tires seems to be a first mod for a lot of wrx owners with the standard 16" wheel setup. on the other hand, i wouldn't pay 2300+ for the bbs setup, too much $ imho.
I'd go for it also - I do 120 miles/day on 17s on 'rougher than average' roads - and ride difference between 17s and orig. 16s is negligible. Can't beat that price either.
I don't think he's talking about the BBS. I think those are off of the JDM Legacy wheels. IMO, you can find more attractive wheels (Rota SDRs) in the aftermarket with better tires (although I don't know which tires come with the 17" dealer upgrade), for less, plus you will still have your stockers to either use as winter tires or to sell.
