Quick(ok not so quick) question about car registration

If someone wanted to register a vehicle in the C&C of Honolulu FROM CANADA, what is needed?
I just came back from the DMV today, and the guy said all i need was a safety check, registration, and title.
I told him i need to get IT REGISTERED, so why would i need to bring a registration to get it registered? Am i missing something here? It can't be that easy. So i pay the guy, ship the vehicle, go to a safety check facility, get a temp. safety check. Go back to the registration office and get registered with temp. safety check.
Go back to safety check station and get a 1 yr safety check?

It sounds too easy. I wonder if i told the guy i was getting a car from japan if he'd tell me the same story.

Thanks

ok i just did my friends car and he is in IRAQ right now. all tags were out of date.

1. I had to get the insurance.

2. go to saftey and get the blue temp safety.

3. then go to DMV with the old reg. blue temp saftey ( i also needed a P.O.A. since i was doing it for someone else)

4. go back to the same saftey check place and got my current safety check

thats it very easy!!

I just did this last week and tags were expired in 01/08

What **** said is what I had to do when I shipped my car from the mainland.

Although, a foreign RHD car might be another story...

Actually, this car is LHD, but not sold in the US.

Crap, I forgot to add, that this car will be coming from Canada. I am familiar with the process of getting a car from state to state. Sorry for the mix-up.

I always wanted a vitz (echo for the americans).

This one, or one like it would be nice.

'05 Echo HB, heavily modified, FAST SALE< PRICE REDUCED!
Located in Vancouver.
PRICE REDUCED FOR VERY FAST SALE< SEE BELOW. $10,500~!!!!!!
This Car is fun and quick, great on gas, it has had oil changes every 5000Km with synthetic oil. It currently has 52,500kms on it.

It also comes with a nice set of winter tires on steel rims!
A lot of money has been spent on this car to make it more fun to drive
($15,000 or more spent, I have most the receipts to prove it)
List of changes (of what came to mind):

Suspension/handling:
Tanabe strut brace on front
Alex rear strut brace
rear sway bar (forget who makes it)
Tanabe coilovers (ride height is adjustable)
Tanabe rear underbrace
Circuit sports x brace
Circuit sports rear lower tie bar

Aesthetics/Interrior:
S2000 Antenna
Corvette leather electronically adjustable seats
Stainless steel shift ****
Momo steering wheel + hub
CF front lip
Sparco pedals
2500 dollar JL stereo
Injen engine cover

Performance:
upgraded front rotors & performance pads
short throw shift kit + bushing
LSD (one of the only ones in Canada, and the last one that was available. cost way too much to install!.. did it at same time as clutch and flywheel)
Alpha werks header

Borla exhaust
AEM cold air intake system
upgraded clutch (from an Xb I think it was)
Lightened flywheel
Underdrive pulley

etc etc.

I am definitely fogetting things.
I have most of the receipts!

The car has been tuned or modified with the objective to keep it clean, no gaudy ugly stuff.
Handles like a dream, virtually NO body roll. the tires grip like mad, and the stereo sounds amazing. Intake and Exhaust let the car pickup some power and run better, but the goal was to keep it good on gas, and make it a lot of fun, check it out.

$10,500 Firm The price has been reduced a TON, I have to leave tomorrow, or at the latest thursday.. for Cali, so a fast sale will be rewarded with this stupid low price, I would not dream of selling it for this unless I had to, and I do.

It sucks though, as the seller is moving to cali this week. I don't know why he doesn't want to ship it.

It actually should be okay with all of that. From what I've read, it isn't too difficult to transfer cars between the US and Canada. Japan, UK, Australia, etc... That's a different story, but Canada isn't a problem. But this is all from memory of research I did 4 years ago (I wanted to ship an FTO to the US through Canada, but didn't have a way to register it in Canada.....and it wasn't 15 years old yet), so take it for what it is.
