300% increase in car registration fees

I have been kinda pissed about this for the last week or two ever since this bill passed the house last week. I just heard that it passed the senate today and I can't believe it. Even though the news is reporting that Gov. (dumbass) Davis is possibly going to veto the bill, I am still stressing a little, mostly because it was the Democrats who pushed it through so far. Tripling the annual vehicle registration fees is completely ridiculous! I don't know about anyone else, but it would hurt me pretty good.

I think Davis should fix his own mistakes (budget deficit) and not force us to suffer cause he is, like I said, a dumbass. Any thoughts anyone? He is suppose to act on the bill tomorrow.

They have to get the money from somewhere, one way or another you are going to be paying, whether it's income tax, or loss of social services(they benefit everyone). Personally I'd rather have extra gas tax than reg. increase. That way anyone dumb enough to commute in a 12 MPG SUV gets hit harder and the cost is spread out.

Actually, registration fees were dropped considerably recently. Note that extra money on your taxes you got back.
The actual problem was all those stupid "tax refund" check things last year that took all that nice tax money away from the goverment that now have to be taken back from us again... Politics are stupid

You only have a limited amount of time for that though, right? Or are you an Oregon resident and not an actual California resident (in tax/legal terms)?

Well, the socialist lefty liberal Davis actually says that he is going to VETO any 3xing of the car tax.

He is trying to save his name! There is alot of talk about a recall on his lily ****.

If he keeps the registration fees where they are now (Still steep compared to anywhere else) I will vote against a recall.

They just need to cut alot of lefty liberal social programs that bleed benjamins on illegal aliens and the like. That would fix many of our budget shortfall woes.

So what's the current registration fee at? May have to move back to Cali sometime in the future.

I hate Cali too, even if I never leave....

The proposed increase is for the VLF, or vehicle license fee, which is part of your registration expenses. Take a look at your last reg. bill, and you'll see what I mean.

Another way to look at it is, that you can deduct the VLF from your Federal income taxes.....
